Hi Sandy,

Here is the information I spoke to you about previously regarding recruiting people to interview for the documentary film, Do You See Us Now? I would appreciate it if you would share this information with your distribution list.  Thank you.

Dear family, friends, and colleagues,

As the executive producer, I am working on a documentary film (DOCU) titled, Do You See Us Now? The DOCU is about the experiences of POC, primarily Black people's experiences during the pandemic and its impact on smaller metropolitan cities such as Hartford. While Hartford is our primary focus, we are open to other metropolitan areas, such as (the Bronx, Brooklyn, Mr. Vernon, and Yonkers, etc.), where there were inequities in (education, healthcare, income, jobs, housing, and incarceration) before the pandemic and conditions worsened during the pandemic. Our goal is to capture the raw experiences including the resilience, joy, and pain that was prevalent during the pandemic as people tried to survive and thrive.

While the current name is “Do You See Us Now?” The subtheme is the dual pandemics of racism and COVID-19. The format for the film is interview style. Questions are developed with the input of the interviewee and distributed to the interviewee in advance of the in-person videotaping to help them prepare. The interview is less than an hour.

We need the following people to be interviewed:
  • ·       Teachers of color who taught in person and online in the Hartford area and other metropolitan schools during the pandemic (between March 2020 and March 2022).
  • ·       Nurses of color who worked in the Hartford area and other metropolitan hospitals during the pandemic (between March 2020 and March 2022.
  • ·       A historian who can speak on the history of POC and racism in metropolitan areas in the United States.
  • ·       Members of the LGBTQIA+ community, especially POCLGBTQIA+
  • ·       Current/Former City Officials and Government Officials willing to speak on the record about the performance of the local government during the pandemic.

If you or someone you know would like to participate in the documentary film, please email me at Bstws...@aol.com. Put in the subject heading: “Do You See Us Now?"

Best regards,
Christiana Best, Ph.D.
