Subject: Information we need for the P-16Plus Committee

If you could fill this form out for the early childhood programs in your department and send the letter and form on to others who might provide information, this is going to be a community wide effort to identify positive programs in early childhood going on in San Antonio. Please email the completed forms to me (harrie...@utsa.edu) and I'll forward them to the committee.

Dear Colleague,

I need your help for a project I am working on that will forever impact education in San Antonio.

The P16Plus Council of Greater Bexar County was officially formed on March 26, 2008 after nearly eighteen months of discussions and focus group meetings that began with the Mayor’s Education Summit in June 2006.

The P16Plus is a vehicle for systemic change in the way education is perceived and delivered in our community.  I have committed to serve on one of the four workgroups:

o        Goal 1 – Ensure that All Infants and Children are

Ready to Learn

The first step in this process is to define and create an accurate inventory of the many wonderful programs that already exist and serve people in San Antonio.

I appreciate how busy you are but would be grateful to you if you would take a few moments to complete the attached data collection form.  I know you can understand the sense of urgency we all feel in how we are going to “eat the elephant one bite at a time” –we will need this data so that we can analyze it and share with others the great work here in our own back yards.

Please complete and send this back to me as soon as possible but for sure by December 5, 2008; before the Holiday festivities engage us in spending time with friends and family and personal reflection as we count our own many blessings.

Thank you for your time. Sincerely,

Harriett Romo
