Prayers for the Future

The G-STAR students are starting to prepare the final Children of
Conflict performance piece. One of the components of this will be
"Prayers for the Future" written by students from each organization.

Give this topic a little thought, then return and write your prayer
here. Keep in mind that we would like these to be used in performance,
so it should be something you're proud of, though it need not be long
or complicated - just clear and honest. Don't be afraid to be specific
or to think big.

My prayer is for tolerance to become world wide. Why can't we all just
get along?

I pray that in the future the world will be able to overcome the idea
that war solves all problems, because I don't believe it does, has, or
ever will. I pray that one day kindness, fairness, and justice will be
given equally to all people, and will overcome all else, with no
discrimination to color, race, religion, thoughts, ideas, or
orientaion. I pray that one day equality will rule the world, and
selfishness and ignorance will not be what rules all. I pray for the
world to one day be a better place.

Here is a prayer I have made myself. I think about it alot because I
veiw prayers as a willingness to commit to a bigger picture. Hope it
is adequete.

On my knees your servant hails thee as thy god
In a world of marterial I offer another
I pledge my self to service, to duty, to right
I will serve the greater purpose
For I am a servant of the shepard, a steward of the will
And may the will of the lord be done by my hand
For he is the creator my master, my shepard
I am a soldier of peace, a protector of justice
This is the path i choose, the choice I stand by
For I have not seen the face of god, nor have I heard his voice
But I have felt his presance and accept the calling
My sword is not of steel but of truth and justice
My sheild is not oak or iorn but of faith
Armed with these lord I cannot fail
And armed with these your will shall prevail

Its a little silly but I like the ring to it. I hope you like it and
understand the meaning.

I pray that we live our lives detached. That we don't let little
problems get to us and we understand that there are much bigger and
more important things out there. We all stem from the same tree and I
pray that we never forget that.
