A database already exists for outdoor youth providers:
http://outdooryouthproviders.org/find_a_program/
The database is run by The Foundation for Youth Investment:
http://www.foundationforyouthinvestment.org/programs/outdoor-youth-providers-database.
The database connects Outdoor Youth Providers via an online database.
They have designed this database to be robust, relational, searchable
and easy to use. We need to get the word out for people to load
organizations into the database.

I'll post it on www.teachoutside.org and Facebook on Monday, when
people are back at work.

Hi Wendy,

I'm not sure how many nature search tools you have looked at, or that I may
have sent previously, but here are three:

Nature Rocks in Austin, Texas (Children in Nature Collaborative of Austin
who we have worked closely with) developed a mapping system based on Nature
Rocks http://naturerocksaustin.org/ . Austin's mapping can be replicated
with a relatively small amount of effort and funding. I will check more into
that -- San Diego was going to try replicating it.

Transit and Trails http://www.transitandtrails.org/ is on the Bay Area Open
Space Council's web site with trails and campgrounds that can be reached
with public transportation

Nature Find has been highly recommended and I now see that they have an
iPhone app and licensing
http://naturefind.com/default.asp?inputdata=Mountain%20View%20CA&r=20 . Amy
Pertschuk from the Children & Nature Network said the person working on this
is very committed and easy to communicate with.

Mary
