Interim meeting of CRM

Dear Irfan

There was an email regarding the cancellation of the strategic planning meeting from the secretariat but obviously it seems that again it could not have reached all the members and the reason shared by the secretariat was that the secretariat and SCI could not agreed on the financial support to be extended to the CRM.

Cancellation of this meeting is one thing which needs to be discussed but more importantly is the question of financial assistance to the CRM secretariat and the non-agreement of the secretariat and SCI the details of which needs to be shared with the secretariat. To my understanding, these matters should have been put on table to the general body first and after the consensus of the general body the secretariat should have either accepted or rejected the financial offer from SCI.

Keeping in view the recent developments in the CRM, I will suggest to call the interim meeting of the CRM at the earliest, maybe early next week where I will request all the members to attend. 

I look forward to the listen to members' comments and their feedback regarding the interim meeting of the CRM as well as to the response of the secretariat on the offer for financial assistance from SCI and non-agreement on that of the secretariat and the SCI for the knowledge and understanding of the members.

Dear Imtiaz,

Please inform the CRM Members about the upcoming 2-Days Planning meeting of CRM. As There is no communication from the Secretariat surprisingly. I also heard it was canceled due the non-agreement on the budget demanded by CRM Secretariat from Save the Children. I would also request to CRM to clear this point as well.

Dear All,

 

A couple of days ago, a friend had sent a request on facebook to save Samra, 10 years old, from the torture, abuse and exploitation cell of her employer in F 11 (House 514, 5^th floor, Building B, Abu Dhabi Apartment). That request finally reached many of us. This friend sells vegetables in that vicinity. He and his mother met Samra who had come to buy vegetables from them; they witnessed iron marks and bruises on her arms and other visible parts of her body. On further inquiry she shared horrible stories of torture, abuse and exploitation with the friend and his mother. According to the vegetable seller, Samra’s mother has died and her father lives in Lahore.

 

The family, with which she lives and work, is also from Lahore, and husband is a lawyer and her wife is housewife, and also (perhaps) a torture master.

 

On behalf of the CRM, a couple of us (including Imtiaz from SPARC and Hussain from ISJ) immediately approached the relevant authorities including NCCWD and provided them details about the situation and requested them to take actions. NCCWD immediately asked (perhaps to) Women Protection Center. Yesterday a team of two person from women protection center visited the vicinity and conducted inquiry and came to know that the torturing family has gone Lahore for vacations. Upon return of the family, the team will do the needful, as shared by senior officials at NCCWD.
