Dear Ghazala,
Thanks for your quick action. I have some quick comments.
1. We should suggest some remedial steps as well, instead of leaving it to the imagination of the authorities/parliamentarians etc. Here are some vague suggestions, which could be improved/better articulated by some member of CRM:
a. it would be good if we demand for the implementation of ban on corporal punishment,
b. some carrot and stick policy for teachers who resort to corporal punishment,
c. some sort of training program for teachers to enable them to discipline children without resorting to violence
2. Similarly, a demand for declaring domestic work/labor as hazardous for children, or a ban on child domestic labor … ???
3. the word “Claim” in the headline could/should be replaced with “demand” .
4. the write-up needs some proof reading as well.
I believe the feedback would be taken in good spirit. More power to your pen
Sincerely,
Safeer Ullah Khan

abuse at the hands of teachers
Dear All
Apart from how Baela’s very valid concern is responded by the members, as an immediate response to the situation, draft of the press release is attached herewith for your quick feedback, before it is sent to the press.

Dear Dr. Baela R Jamil,
You highlighted very much important current issues and incidents which are
spreading fear and panic among the children.
From your blogs and articles in the newspapers, monitoring system for "mar
nahi pyar" in government schools need to implement or strengthen, as i
found no such system.
Media should give awareness to the children and their parents, if teachers
misbehave with the students, they should share with their parents and in
the same way parents should provide relax atmosphere to their children
rather than very much strict behavior. CRM can join hands with media for
this purpose.
Sexual and psychological torture of teachers on students is one of the
major problems which students do not share even with their peers. This
thing also derived the students towards suicidal attempts. A bill needs to
pass in the assembly just as Rahman Malik did last year for women rights,
that a rapist should hang without any mercy.
We also need to revise the curriculum according to our education system
and its ground realities, it should not be hectic which put burden on the
students. opportunities of learning by doing should be provided to the
students. This is the better way to strengthen child friendly environment.

Usman
