Ladies and gentlemen,

I have attached below the previous proposal that I submitted on October 5, 2010 requesting that we do a BOQ and bar chart but we seemed not to be interested in them until the account issues are resolved.

We should think outside the box, have a bigger picture about what we want to do and achieve, and put up systems that will outlive us.

There has been a lot of talk and no action or direction ever since the idea of renovating the school was muted. We did not need have to wait for the Chiwala advert for us to get moving. Who is leading us and what is the plan? We have discussed and concluded on the constitution and the account, what next? When?

John was being pushed to quickly open the account, what next?

Can we please get busy?

Job well done the team that went for the school visit/meeting. I submit that John Chilekwa and Rev. Royd Mwandu, being in Chingola find a person/persons to quantify (Bill of quantities and a bar chart) and include the cost of the repair works. This will form a basis of any fund-raising/contribution with proposed completion dates and set targets.

I want to totally agree with you that we have done too much talk but less action. I want to observe as follows:-
The hills and Mountains we have spoken have sent a afew shivers among our would be leaders so that some are disingaged in order to be creful over HANDLING OF this fund and MAY ONLY TAKE RESPOSIBILITY ATER putting in as much safety valves as possible.

This is evidenced by the unfinnished statement by Brother Chilekwa on the opening of the CSS ACCOUNT.The statement should have ended in an emphatic urge to all CSS to start sending in the Monies while we sort out the other needs of the nature and state of the account.
What am I saying?.... I am Sure that my beloved Japo Mbetwa will agree with me that too much regulation only leads to leakages in any control system.He is a Controls Specialist and can still guide me in this matter..

The other condition is that no one can take up resposibility without mandate or deligation and appointment.As such all have been waiting for the National Council to meet and mandate them to exercise lthe eadership we need.

I propose that we simply go ahaed with the votting on the net or better still continue with Rev Mwandu and brother Chilekwa as we proposed in our recommendation as Guarantors of the CSS Alumni leading to its registration and openining of Account.CSS Alumni hear me well, these men are more than able to lead us .All we can do is to add a National Treasurer and my beloved Japo to initiate and control systems of the CSS AlUMNI Accounts.
This means that the two and the National Tresurer will be the signatories as it may already be.

Please mentioned leaders take positions! dont take cover!

I see all involved to be credible. I see a situation were an employee employs somebody and sees a thief in him on the first day. If this is the case let us stop all this Chikola Alumni. Please 'learned' ones they are obvious checks and balances to all. This will never be a one man show. After all who would want to go to prison over your few coins.

Hi everybody.

Its good that we now the bank account. Let everybody start acting by depositing

in cash into the Account.

We are still not sure how people living outside Mother Zambia can transact from

wherever they are. Anyhow, there must be a bank-to-bank transfer system that will facilitate the exercise ...we shall do some Homework to see that possibility

Otherwise 2012 has already gone beyond the corner we now need to run faster lest we get caught un prepared for the occassion.

I think we all have a point to make. What has been done/not done cannot be changed. But with the lessons thus far learnt we can certainly pave a better way forward.

I suggest the following:

We need to hold elections for both the National Executive Committee and the Regional Coordinating Committees for all the said issues to be well coordinated. See Articles VII and IX of the constitution. Once these structures have been put in place we will need to form a Mobilization Committee so that we can have structure to the preparation for the Golden Jubilee/CSS Alumni involvement in Chikola High School.

In the meantime I would like to propose that Pastor Lombe and Henry Phiri coordinate mobilization efforts for the Lusaka and Midlands regions. If Victor Kasoma is still in Livingstone I would propose that they coordinate the Southern Region. Dr. Robert Sakalunda can coordinate the efforts in the diaspora. For the Copperbelt/Northern/ North Western region, efforts can be coordinated through the Interim Committee (All members are Kitwe based).

The draft minutes of the meeting held on 16 April 2011 have been done and will be circulated soon. Key decision therein include

the holding of elections for the Copperbelt on 4 July 2010: venue Kitwe Jubilee lodge. {My thought: Why can't this be a national election as well}
Identification of a Returning Officer for the elections and the consequential advertisement for the holding of these elections in accordance with the law.
Mobilization of the K50 000 membership from all members
Recognition that a duly elected NEC will be the right body to coordinate the efforts toward Golden Jubilee celebrations. {My thought: When is the event actually taking place; month and date?}

The Interim Committee has tasked itself to ensure all the logistics for the above are put in place.

As a by the way; did someone prepare a database of all members indicating their vocation, residence etc. If not I have attached an Excel worksheet that can be completed and a copy returned to me. For easy of consolidation of details please do no add more columns to the standard worksheet provided. it is necessary that the database of members be quickly consolidated. I propose that this be given a deadline of Sunday 15 May 2011 for all members to have submitted their details. I will circulate an updated register on 20 May 2011. I am sure our IT colleagues will design a better database in other programs (like Access) for permanent use.

I think at this stage everything has been said and done. We need to move on. There will be hiccups on the way but whats important is to keep the wheels turning.

Japo, i can coordinate chikolans in the USA but handling all diaspora will be chewing more than i can swallow. Realist bro!

We need to see money rolling into the account now.

I will transfer 1 million kwacha into our CCS account in few days. This will be a start up on which i can add later. Lets get moving. Lets not just talk the talk but walk the walk.

Thanks Japo for your well articulated write-up. I am no longer in Livingstone; I moved back to Lusaka in January this year.

I am still of the view that we need to publish our alumni by way of an advert in the print media and invite all interested former Chikola pupils to attend so as to widen our scope of membership. As the situation is at the moment, we are a very small fraction of the body that constitutes the alumni of our Alma Mater. We can raise money for the adverts even outside the CSS account.

I think we all have a point to make. What has been done/not done cannot be changed. But with the lessons thus far learnt we can certainly pave a better way forward.

I suggest the following:

We need to hold elections for both the National Executive Committee and the Regional Coordinating Committees for all the said issues to be well coordinated. See Articles VII and IX of the constitution. Once these structures have been put in place we will need to form a Mobilization Committee so that we can have structure to the preparation for the Golden Jubilee/CSS Alumni involvement in Chikola High School.

In the meantime I would like to propose that Pastor Lombe and Henry Phiri coordinate mobilization efforts for the Lusaka and Midlands regions. If Victor Kasoma is still in Livingstone I would propose that they coordinate the Southern Region. Dr. Robert Sakalunda can coordinate the efforts in the diaspora. For the Copperbelt/Northern/ North Western region, efforts can be coordinated through the Interim Committee (All members are Kitwe based).

The draft minutes of the meeting held on 16 April 2011 have been done and will be circulated soon. Key decision therein include

* the holding of elections for the Copperbelt on 4 July 2010: venue Kitwe Jubilee lodge. {My thought: Why can't this be a national election as well}
* Identification of a Returning Officer for the elections and the consequential advertisement for the holding of these elections in accordance with the law.
* Mobilization of the K50 000 membership from all members
* Recognition that a duly elected NEC will be the right body to coordinate the efforts toward Golden Jubilee celebrations. {My thought: When is the event actually taking place; month and date?}

The Interim Committee has tasked itself to ensure all the logistics for the above are put in place.

As a by the way; did someone prepare a database of all members indicating their vocation, residence etc. If not I have attached an Excel worksheet that can be completed and a copy returned to me. For easy of consolidation of details please do no add more columns to the standard worksheet provided. it is necessary that the database of members be quickly consolidated. I propose that this be given a deadline of Sunday 15 May 2011 for all members to have submitted their details. I will circulate an updated register on 20 May 2011. I am sure our IT colleagues will design a better database in other programs (like Access) for permanent use.

I have attached below the previous proposal that I submitted on October 5, 2010 requesting that we do a BOQ and bar chart but we seemed not to be interested in them until the account issues are resolved.
We should think outside the box, have a bigger picture about what we want to do and achieve, and put up systems that will outlive us.
There has been a lot of talk and no action or direction ever since the idea of renovating the school was muted. We did not need have to wait for the Chiwala advert for us to get moving. Who is leading us and what is the plan? We have discussed and concluded on the constitution and the account, what next? When?

Interim Committee,

Thumbs up to the efforts in keeping the frame burning. May I propose
that in all meetings, consideration be made for CSS members that are
not resident in Zambia. I refer to the proposed advert for elections
which only refers to ads in Post and Times. I suggest that the same
advertisement should be placed on this forum to inform the members
that do not read the two newspapers.

I further wish to suggest that the planners for the elections should
consider some form of remote participation in the vote, I don't
immediately see full representation if the elections should be
intended for the members that will make it to the Jubilee lodge
meeting on the proposed date.

For membership contributions, I propose we unite in teams of near
proximity, call each other and make that contribution to one person
who in turn will make the deposit and send list of names of those that
will have contributed. This should apply to other contributions aside
the membership fees.

I will call a couple of colleagues and start the ball rolling.

I propose that the scheduled elections for 4th July,shld be for the national executive.I don't think it is necessary in all the regions to hold elections.The National Executive should be tasked to appoint coordinators in all regions.Thank you.
