Dear friend, today, we are on the eve of 2013. It is irreversible, 2012 is winding up at the click of 24:00 hours. There is a likelihood of people we know to fall in the trap of alcohol and  intoxicating substances abuse, all in the name of New Year Celebration.

May I have your attention please. Two years ago, a young man whom I had nurtured in the Lord but took a wrong turn. God blessed him with a job and backslid from church and he met his death on the eve of the new year. What happened? Going against the Biblical and Medical Doctors’ advice he drank alcohol to his own death. I was summoned to go and identify him at the hospital. Guess what?  There he was, lying on an emergency bed never to wake up again. Cause of death - alcohol. It was a BID case. It pained me to see him pass on under avoidable circumstances.

Listen, what goes round comes round. Must this happen to my friends, relatives and people I love again? No the devil is a liar and a thief. John 10:10 he come to steal, kill and destroy but Jesus came that we may have life and have it more abundantly.

Herewith a few cautionary scriptures to remind all of us on the demerits of alcohol and substance abuse.

Proverbs 23:29-35 Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaining? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? Those who tarry long over wine; those who go to try mixed wine. Do not look at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup and goes down smoothly. In the end it bites like a serpent and stings like an adder.. ...

Leviticus 10:8-11 And the Lord spoke to Aaron, saying, “Drink no wine or strong drink, you or your sons with you, when you go into the tent of meeting, lest you die. It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations. You are to distinguish between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean, and you are to teach the people of Israel all the statutes that the Lord has spoken to them by Moses.”

Genesis 9:20-21 Noah began to be a man of the soil, and he planted a vineyard. He drank of the wine and became drunk and lay uncovered in his tent.

Just in case I am not able to conform to the above, please If I drink I don’t have to drive and If I  drive I don’t have to drink.
