If 150 people can contribute a million kwacha over a period of a year how much will it be? K150 000 000.00 x 3 years as a debit order into a credible trust fund will make a huge difference.

 

And per month how much will you part away with?

 

Simple maths but needs hearts.

Excellent!! The “Interim Plan of Action (IPOA) is ok. At this stage there is no need to reinvent the wheel. Once we cross his bridge the rest will just fall in. May the CSS family adopt this in its entirety by a resounding YES?

 

Right away, proposed “Steering Committee members”, please take up your positions and lead the way by inserting meeting TIME & VENUE.

 

Those of us that are in Chingola can still proceed and meet at the School as suggested by John earlier on. I hope John Chilekwa can go an extra mile and link up with the Headmaster between now and Friday this week about Saturdays meeting. This must be followed by a corresponding confirmation to all of us to get ready before end of business hour tomorrow.

 

Godfrey, there is a lot of mileage to cover. Is it possible for you to produce a firm directory by name, e-mail, telephone number, town & country of residence. That can be a better of knowing who is in their area of residence and can also be an easy gathering strategy. LET US KEEP THE FIRE BURNING.

Ba Henry Phiri, I do agree with you on the issue of organization structure. There is already a mail in circulation from the pioneers of the golden jubilee that addressed a proposed interim leadership composition plus a schedule. The absence of constituted leadership must not hold our efforts to spin the wheel in the right direction. My humble request to “our family” is to wait, see and hear the outcome of these meetings dotted all over the globe.

 

In my opinion, tomorrows’ gathering at Chikola in Chingola is a deliberate physical “site inspection” in order for the team to come up with a “scope of work”. Mind you, some people have not been to this school since they last collected their results slips and certificates. Done, the findings (pictorial, John is an expert) will be circulated to all of us for brainstorming after which time we will set priorities of what is to be accomplished collectively in formal meetings. By then, the leadership issue will have been dealt with and all the loose matters consolidated. If a handful exit class of 1989 did that great work on Easter holidays each one as “Leader” I am sure this huge CSS inter-exit family cannot fail to do the right thing at the right time.

While involving the school admin and getting their priority areas. Ba Henry Phiri, I do agree with you on the issue of organization structure. There is already a mail in circulation from the pioneers of the golden jubilee that addressed a proposed interim leadership composition plus a schedule. My humble request to “our family” is to wait, see and hear the outcome of these meetings dotted all over the globe.

 

In my opinion, tomorrows’ gathering at Chikola in Chingola is a deliberate physical “site inspection” in order for the team to come up with a “scope of work”. Mind you, some people have not been to this school since they last collected their results slips and certificates. Done, the findings (pictorial, John is an expert) will be circulated to all of us for brainstorming after which time we will set priorities of what is to be accomplished collectively in formal meetings. By then, the leadership issue will have been dealt with and all the loose matters consolidated. If a handful exit class of 1989 did that great work on Easter holidays each one as “Leader” I am sure this huge CSS inter-exit family cannot fail to do the right thing at the right time.

We need to employ some organizing and project management skills. At the rate we are going we will spend so much energy and time and achieve little or none. Lets have some organizational structure of some sort with defined roles and responsibilities with agreed time limits. The Head-teacher is already aware of out intention to contribute towards the golden jubilee. I wonder what you intend to achieve during the proposed meeting with him.

These were the suggestions that came from that meeting and all are free to contribute and make suggestions

 

1.   There is need to come up with a constitution for our organization

2.   Submissions on the proposed constitution should be submitted by 26 October 2010

3.   Formation of a Constitutional Review Commission  after the 26 October deadline to compile and come with a draft constitution within one week after the deadline. Volunteers should be online such as all can see the article being included. Once down circulate for adoption

4.   There is need for a hierarchy or constituted board to run the group in the interim.

5.   Is it possible to open an interim bank account for contributions as there are many CSS colleagues who are eager to start making contributions. Our bankers out there we await your advice on this point

6.   There is need to come up with a directory of all ex CSS, even those not on email, get them on board, compile such a directory and sell ourselves

 

 

NB. We wish to appreciate Mr  F S Musonda who has allowed our group to use his facility for our meetings as he truly feels what we are doing is a noble cause.

I agree with Mr Chilekwa that a sample constitution from a successful Old Students Body be given the status of a draft Constitution and be circulated to all of us with a limited period of time for proposed amendments after which adoption can take effect after it has been done by a mandated relatively small team so that we can move quickly and give our CSS  a legal Heart.                          

While we are doing this lets use a printed resolution from the last meeting to open the CSS ALUMNI account and start collecting contributions.This is a sure way of kicking off to win.

 

I still  feel that, though not by emergency,we need to give Mr Enock Kavindele the status of Gold Father in the association in oder to use his influence to raise more of the needed Funds. Remember his capacity must not be political but to give this association a bigger pcture. His influence resulting from a life service is evident all over the country. Lets  have a CSS village which has not killed all the Elders.We need their wisdom.

Few facts!
 
Lets not involve the school in opening a bank account at whatever level. Japo's points a few days ago elaborated the fact that management has not shown any leadership skills and that turning it into a catholic run institution can show different results. Why then should we trust them with our funds. They can sit on any committee, be secretary or chair but the funds should be managed exclusively by former CSS signatories- Rodney, John and pastor( we need those prayers).
 
Accoutability
Again, my emphasis is that the account will be access by all as it will be online. All activities will be viewed online. And Rodney please apply for online access as you open the account. People will be contributing part of their hard earned money, hence we need to abide by their wishes.
 
Constitution
It looks great to me. In the meantime lets use it for start up and bank account. Amendments will definitely come later so that the constitution can suit globalization.

I don't see any problem in opening a bank account in Chikola Sec Sch name IF the account is managed by us with the signatories as proposed. My worry or opening an account in e.g. Papa's name in joint with e.g. Wapa I'd that personal attachment to such a people charity kind of managed fund, suppose either Papa or Papa dies suddenly, his/her family may/can claim ownership in administion (this may sound crude but true), unless the school has reservations in opening a all new account with signatories as suggested, I propose an account be opened with a bank with online capabilities so that indeed all of us may have access to balance/statement inquiries.
