We cannot reimburse you for counterfeit banknotes. If you suspect that you have a counterfeit banknote, please take it to your nearest police station. The police should fill out an NCO-1 form and provide you with a receipt and incident number. The suspect notes will be sent to the National Crime Agency and if counterfeit to the Bank of England for further examination.

Counterfeiting directly funds organised crime. It hurts the UK economy by creating losses for businesses, which ultimately affects the cost of things that we buy. It also affects the pocket of anyone who receives a counterfeit note, as the notes are worthless. If you report counterfeiting to the police, you are helping with investigations and alerting them to a problem in their area. This means they can take action to protect your community.

Verification of certification numbers on the PCGS Certification Database does not eliminate the risk of buying counterfeit and altered coins. Though uncommon, counterfeiters may also counterfeit PCGS grading inserts using actual certification numbers derived from public sources.

Data entry errors occasionally may occur causing the information on the coin holder to differ from the PCGS database. If the information listed above appears to be incorrect, please contact PCGS Customer Service.

Collectors Universe, Inc., parent company of PCGS, operated PCGS Currency from 2005 until 2009 when it sold the banknote grading division to another company and licensed the trademark and brand name for 10 years until January, 2019 when the name and license returned to Collectors Universe. Therefore, notes graded under the PCGS Currency brand are graded as crossovers to ensure they meet the standards of the new PCGS Banknote grading service.

Not all denominations of Australian banknotes are produced every year. Instead, they are printed based on demand for new banknotes to replace those no longer fit for circulation. The information below details the serial number ranges for those banknotes printed each year. This information does not account for the serial numbers used on banknotes that are destroyed and therefore not issued.

Some of the banknote prefix and serial number information has been compiled from incomplete records, and it is possible that banknotes have been issued with serial numbers outside of those published in the above tables. While every effort has been made by the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) to ensure the information is correct, the RBA accepts no liability for the accuracy or completeness of the information, nor any responsibility for financial loss or damage resulting from use of the information. The RBA recommends that users exercise care and judgement when using the information.

This happens when the specially designed printing press comes into contact with the banknote paper and the ink is forcibly drawn from the plate onto the paper under very high pressure. This process, called Intaglio, results in raised print and produces high quality clearly defined images. Intaglio printing is suitable for printing some areas requiring raised print such as the portrait of His Majesty the King or the numbers identfying value.

Such feature, a completed front and back registered design, is printed by a specially designed printing press at the dry offset printing stage. This printing press is able to print color patterns on both sides of the sheets simultaneously, which can be seen by viewing the design against the light.

Jamaican banknotes are issued in denominations of $50, $100, $500, $1000 and $5000. The notes are all of the same size (145 x 68 mm). Each note has a unique watermark, namely the portrait that is featured on the particular note. The serial number appears twice on the face of each note, vertically to the left of the portrait and horizontally on the far right of the note. Each edition of the note carries the date of printing and the signature of the Governor of the Bank of Jamaica. Special symbols to aid the visually impaired appear on the front of all notes except the $1000 and $5000. Instead, these high value notes have their denomination printed in bold numerals to the bottom right hand corner. The front of each note bears the portrait of either a Jamaican national hero or a former Prime Minister, whereas local scenes and popular landmarks appear on the back.

The Jacaranda family, native to South America, consists of more than fifty species, of which the J. mimosifolia is the most widely planted and admired. This deciduous tree grows very fast and likes fertile, sunny areas. It does not thrive well in heavy wet soils. The current set of banknotes has been in circulation for more than twenty years and was in need of updated security features. The States of Jersey took the opportunity to redesign the notes and highlight different aspects of Jersey's diverse architecture, history and culture at the same time.

For instance, the notes differ in size, getting larger according to their value. Each note of a different value has its own striking colour and a bold, enlarged numeral on both the front and back of the note.

The easiest way to recognise the banknote is to feel its texture. When you run your finger over the States of Jersey title and the number, the ink should feel raised. The paper should be crisp and not limp, waxy or shiny.

As is traditional in Jersey, the front of the new notes bear a hand-engraved, intaglio (an image incised or cut into a surface) portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as well as the words 'States of Jersey' above the Island crest.

Damaged notes can be returned to the cashiers at Customer and Local Services, La Motte Street for exchange, providing one full serial number and parts of the other serial numbers are visible (these are the letters and numbers printed on the left and right hand side located on the front of the note).

If part of the note is missing which includes one of the serial numbers, you'll need to complete a damaged note form. The value of the note determines the length of time before reimbursement will be made. If a 1 note has been submitted this will be retained for a period of one month and any higher value notes for three months. Should the missing part with the complete serial number be presented by another person during this time then both parties will be advised that they will each receive half the value of the note.

Westminster Collection is the company who administers our commemorative coin issues. In the past, these programs have included a variety of themes such as historical events, anniversaries and famous people.

If you have any old Jersey money from either series A (1963) or series B (1976), you can exchange these for face value at your local bank or the cashiers at Customer and Local Services, La Motte Street.
