I have been having some mixed results importing Sketchup models. In
some instances, one can drag and drop the downloads as-is from
Explorer straight into the plan with all textures intact.
In others, this method fails.
The alternative is to export from Sketchup to dwg and then import
those to Chief Architect (X1). This results in no textures and only a
single layer.
Even though I have tried exploding the models and assigned layers in
Sketchup before exporting, they still come up as single-layer blocks
in Chief.

Any suggestions in overcoming this issue so that I can select from a
broader range of Sketchup items would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
SleepDirt

Textures and layers are tricky, but it can be done.

Hi SleepDirt, it may be that the Sketchup files you importing that do
not import are Sketchup version 7 files and not from an earlier
version like 5 or 6.

X-2 can not import from Sketchup 7 but I believe the new Chief X-3
that is coming out will import Sketchup version 7.
