Hey ChiCode4Lib community and registrants for the Fall 2019, ChiCode4Lib meet up.  We're looking forward to the event, a mere one week from today, on November 14, 2019 at Northwestern University Library.  Event starts at 9am, and doors will be open from 8am onwards. We will have coffee and breakfast snacks at 8:30am. There's still a few remaining spots left to get a glimpse of peer's work and learn some new tech / techniques.

The easiest entrance to the Ver Steeg conference room is through the Deering Library entrance, located east of Sheridan & Foster.  Signs for "ChiCode4Lib" will be posted outside, and the main registration table will be located within the Deering Library main lobby.

Presentations
Don't be shy... there's still plenty of open slots for quick presentations/talks/whatever-you-like. Share a new web application, tool, technology, practice with the group.
  • Slots are 10-minute (8 minutes for content, 2 minutes for questions), and it's OK to signup for two slots for longer presentations.
  • There will be a presentation monitor with various multimedia inputs to plug your laptop into, or
  • You can email your presentation in advance and we'll add it to the a shared Google Folder (or you can add it yourself; more details on this next week).

Unconference-style breakout session
We've allotted some time after lunch for an "unconference" session.  In the morning we'll ask everyone to jot down a subject, theme, question, or idea on a post-it note which we'll collect.  These suggestions will get organized into categories, and used as a guide for interactive discussions post-lunch.

We look forward to seeing everyone next week!  All registrants, please keep an eye out for emails early next week with updated event/location/presentation info.

Hey everyone.  Looking forward to tomorrow's Meet Up, November 14, 2019 at Northwestern University Library.   Please enter through the Deering Library main entrance (1937 Sheridan Rd, Evanston, IL 60208), and proceed to the Ver Steeg lounge.  Signs will be posted.

Times
Doors open 8am.
Event starts at 9am.
Coffee, tea and bagels/pastries/muffins will be served from 8:30am onwards.

Morning presentations
Library Tour at 10:30am.

Lunch from 12pm - 1:30pm
Downtown Evanston is a 10 minute walk from the Library and has quite a few good lunch spots.  We'll provide some lunch leaders to lead groups.  Also the Norris Student food court is located directly behind the Library and is pretty decent as well.

1:30pm breakout sessions

2:10pm Coffee/tea break

Afternoon presentations

3:45pm: For those interested, a tour of Northwestern's Block Museum of Art (located close to the Library).  There's a great new exhibit, "Pop América, 1965–1975", showcasing Latin Americans expression of "Pop".

4:30pm: For anyone interested we'll head out for post-day drinks/snacks.

Presentations
There are still a few presentation slots open at https://tinyurl.com/yfojkg6h  A reminder these can be as formal or informal as you'd like.  We'll aim to keep the day pretty laid back, and encourage any and all to share a project, challenge or idea if you're up for it.

Presenters don't have to have slides, but if you do and would like to share/send your presentation in advance, please post it to this shared Google Folder. There will be a shared computer for presentations, or HDMI connectors if you prefer to use your own laptop.

Breakout session
We've allotted some time after lunch for "unconference" style breakout sessions.  If you're interested in leading and/or facilitating a session, please add your name and topic to the schedule: https://tinyurl.com/yfojkg6h

Yes, it was spectacular!  Thanks to @Adam and the rest of the Northwestern crew for setting this up.  You guys are working on some really great stuff.  And thanks as well to everyone who presented.

Apologies for not making it to the pub afterwards; usually this is totally my jam, but I had a family conflict.  Perhaps early in 2020 we can meet again?  The Hopleaf comes to mind.  (I'll follow up later.)

    Cheers!

Hopleaf is technically walking distance from my house, so yes to that.
