Hi,

I'm the junior co-chair for the accessibility and disability section of the Society of American Archivists. I am applying for a grant to get funding for captioning at the society's annual meeting (in Chicago for 2020). A number of people suggested I reach out to Code4Lib to get some advice.

I'm not really sure what sort of help this group can offer, but I'll take any information I can get. I'm currently looking at a service like Typewell but that's not very cost effective or nimble enough to provide the sort of support a whole organization needs.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi Michelle,

I know for Drupal's Midcamp they had piloted their own speech-to-text application. It can be tried out here: https://lc.midcamp.org/.

The software is GPL, meaning free to use, but there may be limits to the support for it. If you want to know more I think that Andrew Olson is the best person to reach out to. You could probably get him on Twitter: @andrewozone.
