Carl Strang's updated his guide for our local singing insects!
Bless him for his extra care and good work!

Now it seems we seriously need more native/indigenous plants to provide food and shelter for more of them
Would you agree?
Comments, please.

Subject: Updated singing insects guide

Here we are in 2022 and it is time to send out my newly updated guide to the singing insects of the Chicago region (attached). Major items are the finding of slow-tinkling trigs in the region, with corresponding adjustments to tinkling ground crickets; the discovery of two forests with persisting big emergences of Brood X periodical cicadas; and the addition of a glossary and index to the guide. Thank you for your continued interest.

Regards,
Carl Strang

Thank you, Kathy. Very nice. Our yard is small but our neighbor has a big yard with lots of wildflowers, including milkweed.

May you and Kathy and your family and friends see way more pollinators this year!
The city is desperate for them, and also are the birds.
