How can we all together avoid Pollinator Collapse/Apocalypse we see happening, affecting our bird populations, too?

Do you think an allstate decree to enhance Illinois' native plants like Texas did in the 70's will make a difference?

Do you think we need to act quickly?

We're asking Texas Highways magazine to share film footage of how wonderfully Texas exhibited their native plants along their highways.

I’m Maheen Naeem and I’m a staffer for Rep. Ann Williams. Thank you so much for reaching out. It is vital that our state has a healthy and sustainable environment for the future. One part of having a sustainable environment is understanding the critical role that all living things play in our broader ecosystem, including bees and other pollinators. The losses to our bee population in particular are extremely troubling.

 

As chair of the Energy and Environment committee in the House, Rep. Williams is committed to protecting our state’s environment on all levels. On the issue of the pollinators, she co-sponsored the Saving Illinois Pollinators Act (HB 5900) in 2016.  Unfortunately, this bill did not pass, but she will continue to work closely with the environmental advocates and her colleagues should further legislative action be taken. Rep. Williams has been the Chief House Sponsor of the Clean Energy Jobs Act (CEJA), and knows how important the links between our environment and our society are. She is committed to passing legislation that provides for a clean and sustainable future in Illinois.
