Order Native Pollinator Seed Mixtures

In collaboration with Stover Seed, these regional native pollinator wildflower mixtures are the environmentally healthy choice for supporting your local pollinators. With no risk of introducing non-native or invasive plants into your local ecosystem, these mixtures promote the health of bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and other important pollinators. Each carefully formulated mix contains 12 colorful, native wildflowers where at least 3 species are in bloom during the spring, summer, and fall—adding beauty to your landscape throughout the growing season!

A portion of the sales price of this wildflower mix is donated to Pollinator Partnership. Order by clicking HERE!

North American Mite-A-Thon Summer Session

The Mite-A-Thon Summer Session will be taking place from August 14th-29th. The Mite-A-Thon is a tri-national effort to raise awareness about honey bee colony Varroa infestations in North America through the sharing and teaching of effective hive monitoring methods. All beekeepers throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico are encouraged to participate by checking their hives for mites and helping raise awareness for honey bee health. Learn more and join the count by clicking HERE!

Become Bee Friendly Farming Certified

Bee Friendly Farming (BFF) is a certification program from Pollinator Partnership working with farmers to help protect, preserve and promote pollinator health. The BFF program has three categories that allow for engagement with all participants in pollinator conservation while addressing their landscape goals: Bee Friendly Farming CERTIFIED, Bee Friendly Farming PARTNER, and Bee Friendly Farming GARDEN.

By becoming a Bee Friendly Farming member, you can help preserve and protect the pollinator populations by implementing positive, incremental changes on your property. BFF helps farmers incorporate affordable, simple, science-based guidelines, like offering nutrition and habitats for bees, and integrated pest management strategies. Program members are an essential part of keeping our pollinators healthy and food supply abundant. Join hundreds of other members by applying today!

Fun Fact: Cecropia Moths

Cecropia moths are the largest moths in North America with a wingspan of 5 to 7 inches! They also have one of the coolest looking caterpillar stages. Check out those colorful and protective spines! While many moth species are important pollinators that feed on the nectar of nocturnal plants, adult Cecropia moths actually lack working mouth parts and digestive systems and live only two weeks for the sole purpose of finding a mate!

Even though Cecropia moths aren't pollinators, planting native host trees in your green spaces not only supports this captivating species, but also supports local biodiversity as a whole. By planting trees that support a variety of different insects, including moths, you are also supporting animals that rely on those insects and moths for food, such as birds! A majority of terrestrial birds feed their young with caterpillars that feed on tree foliage, with most of these caterpillars being moth larvae.

Moths are often underappreciated in comparison to other insects, but they are fun to observe because of their amazing diversity, many species are important pollinators of native plants, and they are a crucial food source that other animals depend on for survival. Here's to the moths and all that they do!
