Meetup Description
US Open Inline Chicago is a trade show with seminars and competitions
for all levels of skating. They do not have an exact schedule yet but I
wanted to throw it out there so we don't miss it this year. Great event to
promote our sport. Check out the website for more info:
http://usopeninline.com/home.html
This competition, seminar and trade show, internationally sanctioned by
USA Roller Sports, and sponsored by US Inline Figure Skating, is the
second time a U.S. competition is being held that will be strictly
dedicated to inline free skating as well as other aspects of basic inline
skating.
It will be held April 23 - 25 with the competition events scheduled for
Saturday, April 24 in the morning and overflow events on Sunday, April 25
in the morning. This competition has attracted interest from skaters in
several countries.

Meetup Description
It is almost here! We hope for good weather so we can skate Critical
Mass for the first time this year. . Critical Mass http://chicagocriticalmass.org/
Some people see Critical Mass as a forum for grassroots political
change. Some people see it as a protest against cars. Some people just
like to ride. The Mass, however, is just that...a bunch of bike riders.
You can drive a car the whole month and ride in the Mass. You can be an
anarchist and ride in the Mass. The point of the Mass is the Mass, nothing
more. Critical Mass has no leadership. It is a ride where no one is in
charge. At any time, riders are free to leave, stay, stop, or even help
out. Everyone is responsible for themselves and the Mass.
Critical Mass will take off from Daley Plaza at 6:00 PM (We meet at
5:45). Come on your bike, skates, longboard or skateboard. Always fun
times. Be prepared to go for about 19 Miles. It is not fast and you can
usually find someone on a bike to pull you =). If you are not comfortable
skating that far yet, come on your bike!
Happy Friday! |

Then a
great event both Team Rainbo and
Windy City Inliners are attending (alone with most of the Roll Derby Gals in
town). This is one of only two events all year in the city which opening invites
skaters to take part. Do your part to help promote skating in the
city.
Sign up for the American Cancer Society's Walk and
Roll!

You choose your team, Team Rainbo or Windy City Inline
Skaters
Team
Rainbo really wants to
have a good showing this
year and team members are just
beginning to sign up. This is always fun, a good training
skate, a tent and chairs for putting on skates
and storing a few non-valuable items and a fun lunch afterwards
if you want. So sign up and come out and join
us.
Windy City Inline Skaters
Walk and Roll is only a month away! I was just informed that we
will have our own team tent at the event (thanks to Tom!!!). Please visit
our team website and make a small
donation if you can. There is not registration fee for the event, just come out
and skate with us. But it is a fundraiser and one of the few events that allows
skaters. So please support them!
I've updated this Meetup. For more
details, see the full listing:

And finally
this item, a new event in town that is also openly welcoming skaters!! With both
Team Rainbo and WCIS participating.
Climate Cycle -
May
15, 2010
I talked to the organizers of climatecycle.org.
They are willing to allow skaters at their event. I know it is the day before
Walk and Roll but I was wondering if Team Rainbo would be interested in
participating. I think it is a great thing that more organizations are willing
to allow skaters. -Kristen
I am sure that many of us will decide to skate in this event.
It is terrific that the bikers are welcoming us. I would love to know how
many of our teammates would be interested in participating. It is the day
before the walk and roll, so it would make for a great training weekend.
