We need all the help we can get! If your not skating, biking,
or running please help out. We need registration help Friday night
from 4 - 9 pm, Saturday we need set up @ 5 am, registration help @ 6
am and flaggers on the course @ 7 am. All should be over by noonish
unless of course you'd like to help clean up and set up for Sunday
when we start all over again....
Sunday if you are NOT skating or have friends and family that
can help, we need flaggers on corners and of course be there for the
awards and clean up!
Anyone and everyone, please send a note if I've not already
talked to you. E-mail is good esp...@sbcglobal.net and my cell is: 847 - 609 - 9050.
Thanks in advance, Liz

Meetup Description

Join us for this year's Chicagoland Inline Marathon. You do not have to be a serious speed skater to have fun at this event! Team Rainbo is putting a lot of effort into making this a great event for skaters of all skill levels! Don't miss it! This is pretty much the only Inline Marathon in Chicago.

The event will run the entire weekend July 24-26, 2009 but Sunday will be the big day. You can choose between 10K, 1/2 Marathon or Marathon (all 3 starting at 8AM) http://www.chicagolandinlinemarathon.com/gfasf_schedule_of_events.pdf

If you are planning to do any of the other races Friday or Saturday, please post this in your rsvp to see if others are interested in joining you. However, I will do the 1/2 or full marathon on Sunday and I think this is what most of us are doing.

You will have to register at http://www.chicagoinlinemarathon.com

What: Friday Night Skate!

When: July 24, 2009 7:30 PM

Where:
Daley Plaza
100 W Washington St
Chicago, IL 60632

Sorry for the late notice but we just decided to do a Friday Road Rave. We have some guests from Germany in town and they would like to see our city on skates. The route is still being worked on but it will be one that really shows off our city.
Tom (Skate Patrol) will lead the skate. That means helmets will be required for this event. Be prepared to skate about 12 Miles. Skate at your own risk. This is an intermediate to advanced street skate. You need to know how to stop, step over potholes, rail road tracks etc. BRING WATER, there will be none on the route.

We will meet at Daley Plaza and probably end at All Stars Bar and Grill at Clinton and Madison for refreshing drinks and...food...(I did not say good food). Ending at Navy Pier is another option.

Full Moon Fire Jam

When: August 5, 2009 6:30 PM

Where:
Lakefront
Lake Shore Dr.
Chicago, IL 60637
312 933 5461

Let's skate up to Foster Beach to watch the fire performances at the Full Moon Fire Jam! http://www.pyrotechniq.org/content/chicago-full-moon-fire-jam

Thanks to Mark for suggesting this meetup!

We will meet at the Lakeshore Path and Fullerton (Concrete Steps next to grass/tree area) at 6:30 PM. From there we will skate up to Foster Beach. The Fire Jam starts at 7:30 PM.
We will bring cones and do some freestyle too if we can find an area with good pavement near Foster Beach.

This will be an easy skate up the lakeshore path. No worries if you are new to skating. Bikers, Longboarders and Skateboarders are welcome as well!

Hope to see you there!

Kirsten

Hi all,

Please take a look at the thread below from Phil Graff.  In short, the Active Transportation Alliance (ATA, former Chicago Bike Federation) is looking for skaters to participate in their Open Streets event on August 1.  This is similar to the "Sunday Parkways" events held last fall in Logan Square, Humboldt Pk, Garfield Pk, Little Village, and North Lawndale.

In particular, they could use volunteers to help course marshal, but they would also enjoy having as many skaters as possible.  To quote Jody Orlovick, volunteer coordinator for the ATA, "I want it to NOT look like a bike event, but look more free for all...."

Just FYI:  This is a recreational skating event.  While the streets will be closed, you will be stopping at most intersections along the way.

Thanks!
Chris
