Week Without Capitalism
Let’s do for EACH OTHER what won’t be done by the North Atlantic Treaty
Organization (NATO) or the Group of Eight Industrial democracies (G8).
Share a gift, a skill, a story, a talent. Heal a division; dissolve a
debt.
In response to NATO/G8 meetings in May, we ask: What would the world and
our lives and relationships look like without capitalism? It might be
hard or even impossible to imagine, but we’re going to have a week
devoted to envisioning alternatives to capitalism and living them out in
practical ways together. We hope to create a sort of training ground
for weaning ourselves off capitalism and increasing our inter-dependence
and community! We will be taking a week off of buying, cars and work
for wages (as much as possible) and putting in its place…well, the
possibilities are endless, and are up to you. Join us as we put forward
a huge stepping stone and experiment towards transitioning us from
Capitalism towards something more humane. There are many amazing ways
to participate….

Co-op share for sale in HUB Housing Cooperative.
Beautiful, large 3rd floor studio co-op share for sale by owner, asking $99,000. About the building: 6 units, located on Marshall
Boulevard in Little Village, south of Douglas Park. Has a shared side yard where we garden and have frequent barbeques, shared basement with
free laundry, storage, and workshop space, has a partial green roof,
extensive renovations done 2005-2008 - all new windows, furnaces, hot
water heaters, kitchens and bathrooms throughout the building. Doing
tuckpointing and tear-off roof this year. Close to schools, the Pink
line, and several bus routes. The studio unit has skylights, one with
roof access, cork flooring, a giant soaking tub, and a really great
kitchen. Could easily be turned into a 1-bedroom by adding a wall.
We can provide financing.
About us: We are an intentional community with shared values of
cooperation, building community, affordable housing, and always moving
towards more sustainable living. We're fun-loving, responsible and
open. Meetings are usually every two weeks, and members have chores
(approx. 4 hours a month). Come get to know us. If you're interested
