Housing Mixer

Sunday, July 22, 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM
Lake Street Church of Evanston (607 Lake Street, Evanston, IL)

Housing is an issue for millions of people. The Center for Housing Policy reported that in 2005 (before the crash) 13 million Americans paid more than half their income for housing and, of those, 4 million worked full time. Since the 2008 crash, over 1.2 million homes have been foreclosed.

We need better housing alternatives – sooner not later. Housing mixers are a new model to gather with others regularly to explore a broader range of housing options than the one-size-does-not-fit-all single family, and single parent, model that we consider normal.

The concept of housing mixers distills years of thought about affordable housing. Mixers are the platform for conversations about housing and support to ensure good outcomes. Social service experts (our community has many) will guide participants to ensure healthy choices and effective communication for healthy, satisfying housing arrangements.

We’ll mix in the Parker Room or parlor on the 4th Sunday of the month from 12 – 1:30, starting on July 22nd. Contact Terry Edlin, te...@newcommunityvision.coop or 312.375.1423, for information.
