Hello NetSquared Local Organizers!
You probably read inClaires previous emailthat they are launching into a Chapter Program on Meetup to bring NetSquared Meetup Groups into one central account. This will make it much easier for you to participate as a crucial NetSquared Local Organizer, so we're excited to let you know about it and give you steps to opt-in and be part of the new program.
In this new Chapter Program, all official NetSquared Meetup Groups will be a part of one account that NetSquared will pay for. Here are the important points to understand:
To opt-in to the new Chapter Program and continue as an official NetSquared Meetup Group, please complete these two quick steps by February 3:
If you haven't already, be sure to read the Q&A at the bottom of this email, and let us know if you have any questions.
Best,

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS ABOUT THE NETSQUARED CHAPTER PROGRAM
WHAT WILL HAPPEN AFTER I OPT-IN?
The Group itself will remain largely the same, and you will still organize Meetups. Groups that opt-in will be placed in a central account for NetSquared so that NetSquared can better support and pay for them. NetSquared will become the head Organizer and you will be appointed as Co-Organizer. Going forward, it is important to note that NetSquared will officially own the Group instead of you, though you will still have nearly all the same organizing powers you had previously.
WHAT CONTROLS DO I HAVE AS THE CO-ORGANIZER?
NetSquared wants you and the NetSquared Local Co-Organizers to run your Group as you had before, so this new Chapter Program should not effect your daily goings-on. Co-Organizers can do everything an Organizer can, with two exceptions. Head Organizers ultimately have the final say in some matters that might come up in the Group such as closing the Group down completely. Also, only the head Organizers can receive payments from members for dues or event fees via theMeetup.cominterface -- although NetSquared already requires that payment should not by collected via Meetup Groups anyhow. By opting-in, you agree to give this head Organizer status to NetSquared, and you will act as Co-Organizer.
DO I HAVE TO PAY SUBSCRIPTION FEES TO CO-ORGANIZE A NETSQUARED MEETUP GROUP IN THE NEW CHAPTER PROGRAM?
No. You will not have to make any subscription payments to Co-Organize your NetSquared Meetup Group once you opt-in to join their Chapter Program.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MY CURRENT SUBSCRIPTION?
You will no longer need an active subscription on Meetup because NetSquared will maintain the payments for all their official Groups via their Chapter account.
Some people organize Groups in addition to the NetSquared Group. If you want to continue to organize Groups other than the NetSquared Group, you will need to pay for your own subscription.
CAN I CHANGE MY MIND LATER?
NetSquared is of course incredibly grateful for your leadership and, as always, it's up to you if you want to continue to act as an NetSquared leader in your town. That said, once you opt-in to the new program, you cannot become head Organizer of your existing group again.
WHAT IF I DON'T OPT-INTO THE NEW PROGRAM?
NetSquared is very excited about this new, more centralized way of supporting their groups. All Groups wishing to remain an official NetSquared Group must opt-in to the new Chapter Program. If you do not opt-in to the new program, you can maintain your Meetup Group in the near term as head organizer but you will have to maintain your own subscription. Over the next several months, NetSquared is going to ensure that Groups have opted-in.
Chicago Net Tuesday is opting into the chapter program.
We will fill out the survey and inform our membership.
Thanks,
Gordon Dymowski
