Cheesecake fest set for Sept. 17-18

The ninth annual Eli's Cheesecake Festival, which will take place from
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 17 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 18 at Eli's
Cheesecake World, 6701 W. Forest Preserve Dr., Chicago (at Montrose
Avenue).

It will feature musical acts from the World Music Festival, family
entertainment, cooking classes and plenty of cheesecake. Admission is
free and open to the public. There is ample free parking available.

Saturday's highlights on the U.S. Cellular Stage include the Horner
Park Jazz Band, 10 a.m.; the Trinity Irish Dancers, 11 a.m.; the Jesse
White Tumblers flying over a giant Eli's Cheesecake, 2 p.m.. At 3:30
p.m. will be Nomo, Elliot Bergman's trans-cultural ensemble featuring
the sounds of reeds, brass, woodwinds and a myriad of percussion
instruments, a New York based Klezmer/rock band transforming the music
of its Jewish grandparents, making it modern and edgy.

Sunday is family entertainment day at the Eli's Cheesecake Festival
beginning with a Classic Car Show featuring over 100 cars. The
Happiness Club will perform at 12:30 p.m., featuring Chicago kids in a
musical hip/hop pop show, "Kids Make Values Cool". Radio Disney's Party
Patrol at 2 p.m. will offer music and games for kids, followed at 3
p.m. by teen vocalist Ashley Garland and Jump 5, high energy teen
singers and dancers promoting positive values. For photos of any of the

Cheesecake eating contests, cheesecake bingo, cakewalks, antique fire
truck rides, arts and crafts fair and cooking classes at the Michigan
Apple culinary tent will take place throughout the day on Saturday and
Sunday.

A portion of the proceeds from Eli's barbecue sales - hamburgers, hot
dogs, chicken, corn on the cob and cheesecake - will go to the New
Horizons Center for the Developmentally Disabled, across the street
from Eli's Cheesecake World.

In addition, a special food donation area will be set up to receive
canned goods for The Greater Chicago Food Depository's efforts to feed
the thousands of Hurricane Katrina's evacuees scheduled to arrive in
Chicago. Individuals donating a can of food will receive a free slice
of Eli's Cheesecake. Individuals making a monetary donation of $10 or
more to the Chicago Food Depository will receive a whole Eli's
Cheesecake.

Eli's dock sale, a favorite festival tradition, will take place both
days featuring a large variety of Eli's Cheesecakes and baked goods at
special prices.
