Singing and swinging at Concert on the Hill
For next Thursday's free 6:30 p.m. concert, the Billie Limacher
Bicentennial Park will have a slight change in the concert schedule.
Due to a scheduling conflict with the Air Force, they will be making
their long-awaited return on Aug. 18 instead. For next Thursday, Aug.
11, the park was fortunate to obtain vocalist Cheryl Foster and Bob
Duda and The Swingin' Brass to perform. Tony Ray (WJOL radio announcer
and gospel singer) will emcee and the National Anthem will be led by
Father Ed Shea. The Joliet Noon Lions will be ushering during August,
as the Caterpillar Foundation will be sponsoring August's
entertainment.

Vocalist Cheryl Foster will take the stage first to sing such favorites
at "Unforgettable," "Our Day Will Come," "Under the Boardwalk" and many
more. Many may have heard her smooth vocals during the park's recent
Waterway Daze festival. A lifelong Joliet resident, Foster attended
Joliet Central, Joliet Junior College and Illinois State University.
She is an advisor with Consumer Credit Counseling of Joliet and active
in her community.

Next on stage will be the big band sound of the Bob Duda and The
Swingin' Brass. Duda began singing seven years ago with the Fred Wayne
Orchestra. Since then, he has performed at Taste of Chicago, Dancing
Under The Stars On Michigan Avenue and throughout the Chicagoland area,
including appearances at the park. Duda, now retired from aviation, is
following his lifelong dream of singing. Next Thursday, he will pay
tribute to the tunes Sinatra made famous, along with the classics of
Dean Martin and Bobby Darin.

For hill seating, you may bring blankets and chairs. Volunteers will be
serving hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, ice cream, lemonade, pop and more
for a nominal fee. Parking is free within the park and along Jefferson
Street and Western Avenue. You will find the season's line-up,
including pictures of the entertainers, on the park's Web site:
www.bicentennialpark.org . You may also pick up a schedule in the park
office Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to
noon, or you may request one by calling (815) 724-3760.
