PRESS CONFERENCE

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2011, at 11 am

AT BENITO JUAREZ HIGH SCHOOL front park, 2155 S. Ashland Ave.

Friends and supporters of Andrés Manuel López Obrador will announce the date, time and schedule of events for his visit to Chicago in October.

Andrés Manuel López Obrador is a pre-candidate for the presidency of México. In 2006 López Obrador was the frontrunner for the presidency, amid accusations that where later on proven to be part of a conspiracy to defeat him, including president’s Vicente Fox that he “had to be defeated by all means necessary”.

López Obrador went on to officially lose the election by only 235 thousand votes, equal to one-half of one-percent of the total votes cast for him and the current president, Felipe Calderón Hinojosa.

López Obrador has been building a larger social base than he had five years ago, and he is considered the frontrunner to be elected as presidential candidate of a coalition of center-left political parties in México for the 2012 election.

López Obrador will possibly be the only presidential candidate to visit the United States since the election law prohibits political parties and candidates to campaign abroad once the election process starts in mid-October.
