Craig Serbe, who are making inhumane decisions against the immigrant population,” said Jose Landaverde pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission.
“We must not be silent and this is why we need to act against these atrocities that the US government is taking against the immigrant population. Youth And Families Facing Separation Prepare For National Demonstrations Against Homeland Security
Members of youth organizations, families and religious leaders will gather at two locations on Monday, May 14th, to prepare for Chicago’s participation in national demonstrations at Homeland Security offices on Tuesday, May 15th. Families facing separation will explain their situations and volunteers will be working on the next days mobilization at two locations. At 10 a.m. there will be press availability at Our Lady of Guadalupe Anglican Mission. At 4 p.m. there will be press availability at Lincoln UMC.
The focal point of the national actions will be in Charlotte, North Carolina, where Congressman Luis Gutierrez will lead a court house vigil on behalf of Gabino Sanchez.
The Gabino Sanchez case has come to symbolize Latino community dissatisfaction with yet another Obama broken promise. In August, Obama had promised to close the cases of undocumented persons with U.S. citizen children who had no criminal record. Homeland Security has cleared less than 1% of current cases and parents like Gabino Sanchez are being routinely deported and separated from their children.
