Right on. The City had plenty of opportunity to prepare their justification for this case of harassment of the people's movement, as Jeff Frank eloquently pointed out. The City had no good reason for asking for a continuance, or the judge to grant a continuance, especially since he agreed this is an issue of importance. There is every reason to continue to fight this injustice. Both charges should be thrown out as being the latest attempts to harass and squeeze the movement for hard earned dollars. --Neal

Hi all,

I wanted to give you an update on the court date for the citations that were issued at the Oct 8th march and rally.

We arrived at the hearing at 2:30pm. At one point, the city’s attorney made an offer; he would dismiss the “sound cart” citation if I agreed to pay the “banner” citation. I decided not to accept that offer because we need to fight against this pattern of harassment.  At 3:50pm our case was called. The city’s attorney asked for the continuance. Our attorney, Jeff Frank, made an impassioned objection to a continuance. Despite Jeff’s efforts, the continuance was awarded.

To those of you that have expressed their support, many many thanks. To those of you that came out on a crappy, rainy afternoon for support… words can’t express my gratitude.

The next court date is December 7 at 2pm, 400 W. Superior, room 102.

In peace and solidarity,
Pat
