Immigrant Families Plan to March Against Deportations on Family Unity Day
Organizers of the march are targeting the New Detained Immigration Court building, located on 525 W. Van Buren (Corner or Canal and Van Buren)
Chicago IL, - Immigrant Families, documented and undocumented, along with community activist are planning a march and vigil to denounce the unjust and inhumane decisions that judges are taking with immigration court cases. Organizers state that there’s a lot more to the detention and court proceedings than what the public is aware of.

“Not only have they expanded the immigration court regime by allocating new immigration court buildings, they are also expanding their immigration ‘for-profit’ prison system by building new prisons for immigrant families, like the one being planned in Crete IL” said Father Jose Landaverde, pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission.

We denounce the unjust and in humane decisions that immigration judges are making toward the lives of our immigrant communities” said Sebastian Pineda, “Judge Craig Serbe is deporting and separating me from my children,” he concluded.

The judges, state the organizers, “have failed to follow prosecutorial discretion and consequently are destroying thousands of families every single day like the Pineda, Ponse, Gabino, Sanches, families and many hundreds of thousand more throughout the country.

Families and individuals, who are under deportations proceedings and currently have court appearances pending, will be available for interviews. Organizers of the march and vigil along with Undocumented individuals will also be present and available for interviews.
