At the start of the "veto session" of the
Illinois legislature on Tuesday, October 22, we need to send a powerful message
to the politicians – we DEMAND that you pass the equal marriage rights bill
NOW!
Equal marriage rights is about far more than just the 1,100
federal benefits that come with it. It's
about whether the government will treat Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender
people as citizens -- human beings who deserve equal rights with their peers.
Despite polls showing that an overwhelming majority of
Illinoisans support equal marriage rights, the legislature -- particularly Rep.
Mike Madigan's House -- has dragged its heals on passing the equal marriage
rights bill.
Join thousands of others on
Tuesday, October 22 in the first big march on Springfield for LGBT
rights.
Buses will be going from around
the state.
In Chicago, buses will be
going from Rogers Park, Boystown, Pilsen and the South Side.
At-cost tickets ($35), reduced cost ($10) and free
tickets are available by going to www.gayliberation.net
Don't miss this historic opportunity to
make Illinois a state that respects the equal rights and dignity of LGBT
people!
