What: Rally to support the people of Egypt

Where: In front of the Egyptian Consulate: 500 N. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611
Why: "We support our brothers and sisters in their struggle for political and economic reform and we encourage all parties to refrain from violence," said Ashraf Elessawy, member of the CIOGC Executive Committee.
The rally does not call for the downfall of the current regime but for the economic and social justice of the people of Egypt. The organizers of the rally are part of the Chicago Muslim community and have requested support at the event tomorrow.
“The peaceful fundamental rights of Egyptians need to be respected,” said Mohamad Nasir, execuitve director at the Council. "Our prayers are with the Egyptian people during these difficult times."
The Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago is a federation of 53 mosques and Muslim organizations throughout the metropolitan Chicago region. The Council's members collectively represent over 400,000 Muslims. The Council works to coordinate the activities of the Muslim community as well as provide education, training, networking and advocacy to and on behalf of our member organizations. www.ciogc.org
