Subject: Invitation to April 3rd Gathering
THE APRIL 4 NETWORK
Unraveling the blanket of fear/
Quilting the fabrics of hope
Dear Partners in Progressive Causes:
To challenge the culture and politics of fear in our American society, the April 4 Network will weave together the wide-ranging progressive forces of metropolitan Chicago for mutual support and empowerment in the cause of advancing an inclusive Beloved Community.
Please join us on Sunday afternoon, April 3, at 3:00 p.m. at Chicago Temple (corner of Washington and Clark) to participate in creating the April 4 Network – envisioning the pattern and stitching together the fabrics of our progressive quilt.
The April 4 Network takes it name from the address delivered by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Riverside Church in New York City on April 4, entitled “A Time to Break Silence.” (Dr. King was assassinated, you will remember, exactly a year later.}
We will commemorate that historic address (uniting the issues of justice, human rights, and peace) and draw on other of his speeches, with a program of celebration and inspiration, and engage in conversation and planning about how we can now bring a greater unity and strength to our inter-related causes and work.
We urge you to join us on that Sunday afternoon, April 3.
With hope,
Rad Bashir, Jordan Blevins, David Borris, Catherine Buntin, Oscar Chacon, Dan Dale, Larry Greenfield, Shaun Harkin, Kathy Kelly, John Laesch, Michael Lynn, Michael McConnell, Malik Mujahid, Jorge Mujica, Tim Nafziger, Camile Odeh, Harish Patel, Barbara Ransby, Mary Shesgreen, Kristin Szremski, Keeanga Taylor, Jim Vonracek, Eugene H. Winkler, Bennet Yigzow
