MAYAN CALENDAR NEWS: THE GREAT CHICAGO ELECTION BATTLE - ROUND ONE - A DRAW

 

 

OK MCN READERS,

 

Last nite's election results were exciting all the way to the final count.

 

Congratulations to Rudy Lozano, Jr.!! What a fantastic effort. He came up short by a few hundred votes.....he may have narrowly lost the race....but you cannot say that he lost the fight!!! No...Rudy won this fight big time!!!  Rudy is now a major political force to contend with. His future as a major political leader in Chicago is assurred. And Gente, you can bet on this....Rudy Lozano, Jr. is going to make big news in the not too distant future.

 

Congratulations to Jesus Chuy Garcia on his victory!!! He won the democratic primary for the 7th district Cook County Commissioner. Excellent. He went up against the machine and he won "hands down". A great victory for sure.

 

Now why do I call this round one? Simple.What is at stake in the local political landscape is the future political leadership of Chicago. It is only a matter of time before a Mexican or Latino is elected the mayor of Chicago.....or Govenor of Illinois...or U.S. Senator.....etc.

 

Even the machine recognizes this. And the results of last nite's election proved one thing...HDO is on the way down.....and FAST!

 

The new progressive political leadership in the Mexican community is on the ascendant!!!

 

Gente, Rudy came within a hairs length of beating the machine's Dan Burke. WITHOUT ANY MAJOR BACKING FROM ANY MAJOR ELECTED OFFICIAL!!!

 

Dan Burke had all the "pink cheese cool arrows" on his side...Gutierrez, Mendoza, Rangel, Sandoval, Sallas, Cardenas, Munoz, Acevedo, Moreno.....and the wad of cash his big brother Ed Burke layed out for this campaign.

 

All Rudy had was a strong corps of volunteers...young volunteers...and the good will and support of the people......and believe me Gente...the writing is on the wall for the HDO....and their "pink cheese cool arrows"......next election cycle...they will be gone/history...!!!

 

Chuy Garcia won the 25th ward easily!!! That is a bad sign for the HDO "pink cheese cool arrows"......the people are restless and impatient and want solutions for their community.

 

Again, no major players in Chuy's corner....only the spirit and good will of the people.

 

The "pink cheese cool arrows" had the backing of the machine.....the bank accounts of these major forces.....and almost lost the whole shebang!!!

 

The Burke's are furious...sources tell me that they are gonna go after Ricardo Munoz, 22nd ward alderman, and try to knock him out in the next election.

 

Round one is a draw.

 

What is certain is that there is a new wave of progressive politics taking root in the Mexican community. New leadership is emerging under the banner of Rudy and Chuy. The next election is a year away...for alderman and city officials......and I see a major challenge coming out of our community for all of these positions.

 

The results from last nites races have to be giving Rich Daley nightmares. He of all people will know how to interpret the reality of last nite's election results. He can see the hand writing on the wall....and the writing is in STONE!!!!

 

The stakes are gonna be hot and high in the next election campaign that will begin in the summer/fall of 2010......and into 2011.

 

But this time....the momentum is on our side!!!

 

EL PUEBLO UNIDO JAMAS SERA VENCIDO!!!!
