PRESS CONFERENCE

Stop negotiating our rights away!

Don’t deform Workers Comp!

Monday, May 16th at 10am.

100 W. Randolph St.

Politicians in Springfield and businessmen are attempting to amend the
Illinois Workers Compensation Act to, among other important things,
eliminate workers’ choice of medical service, thus legalizing the
practice of sending injured workers to the “Company Doctors.”

Elected officials say that they need to make it easier and cheaper for
companies to do business in the state. But the truth is that the
companies expend hundreds of thousands of dollars in doctors who only
prescribe Tylenols and send people back to work, without any care of
their condition, and on lawyers who fight the legitimate claims of
injured workers, putting in jeopardy the health and lives of hard
working people and the welfare of their families.

Today, workers across the country are facing attacks to their living
standards and to their rights, by politicians and businessmen who are
ready to put the cost of the crisis they provoked on our backs.

CAAAELII is a coalition of 41 immigrant and refugee based
organizations in Illinois and oppose to the changes, we are going to
hand delivering a letter to governor Pat Quinn asking him do not take
away ours rights.
