An Informal Discussion of Latino Activists
Carlos Montes is a former Brown Beret, Trade Unionist and currently one of the main leaders of the Movement for Immigrant Rights in Los Angeles. He has also stood against U.S. wars of aggression including the current ones.
On May 17, 2011 Carlos’s home was raided by Los Angeles Police under orders of the FBI. Prosecutors have used the pretext of gun charges to arrest him and seize his property including cell phone, computer and political files documenting his current as wells as past decades of activity.
Carlos will update his case. We hope to have a discussion of the current situation, repression in the movement, bright spots, as well as next steps.
