Press Release
Thousands of people will march this Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7, 2009 for comprehensive immigration reform.
The marchers will meet at 10:00 am at Union Park (Ashland and lake Ave,) and start marching to the federal Plaza at 11:00 am.
Participants will call for an immediate end to the E-verification program and a moratorium on deportations, which have intensified under the Obama administration, continuing to tear families apart even while the White House says the law and the system are broken and that it will not begin to deal with immigration reform issues until 2010.
“We are marching to let Obama know that without legalization, there will be no re-election," says Father Jose Landaverde of the Guadalupe Mission in Little Vilalge. "We need a moratorium on deportations now.”
The program at Federal Plaza will start around 12:30 p.m.
