Dear Nicholas ,
First, thank you for stepping up and growing this
movement for human rights beyond the borders of Arizona. It is through the
dedicated action of people like you that we will set our country on the right
track.
Second, you may or may not have already held your action,
but I want to pass onto you the messaging we are asking people holding
solidarity actions to use. We have been fighting for justice in Arizona and
across the country for quite some time, so we have put a lot of time into
thinking about and testing how we want to be framing this fight. Please see the
messaging as a resource you can turn to as you paint your signs, develop your
chants, write press releases, and talk to the press. If we are all speaking with
a unified voice we will be much more powerful.
Below are messaging
document and press advisory for your use.
"Undocumented and Unafraid No Tenemos Miedo"
'We can't wait…We won't be
criminalized"
We will have the following demands for the Obama Administration:
Direct the Department of Homeland Security to refuse to take custody of
anyone charged with violating
provisions of SB 1070.
Reassert the federal government's exclusive control over immigration law by
making clear that state
and local police do not have the inherent authority to enforce immigration
law.
Immediately suspend and terminate all police-ICE partnerships, including
287(g) agreements and the
so-called 'Secure Communities Initiative."
Stop Criminalizing Our Communities. SB1070 is racist and immoral.
Brown is not a crime, state-sanctioned discrimination is.
SB1070 will
force local police to racially profile people
Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed the most racist law in recent
memory.
SB1070 violates United States Constitution and internationally recognized
human rights.
Be On The Right Side of History: SB1070 is Where We Draw The Line
We march peacefully with dignity and a clear demand: Obama Stop SB1070
NOW
We are ALL undocumented and unafraid. We are all Arizona
We're not going anywhere. We will demonstrate until SB1070 is struck
down
This is an unjust law and we will be forced to break it.
More than 30 states are organizing events in solidarity with the tens of
thousands marching in Phoenix
today to assert our human rights and denounce
the criminalization of our communities
Boycott Hate, Boycott Arizona
Arizona can't and will not profit from hate
We pledge to boycott the
following companies that fund hate and support SB1070: Arizona
Diamondbacks, Tostitos, Anheuser-Busch Bud Light Beer, Jimmy Johns Gourmet
Sandwiches
Conferences, Cities, and Cultural workers have all stepped up to boycott
the state because they know
that SB1070 violates our nation's values.
President Obama: You have the Power to Stop SB1070, Use it
Obama could resolve this human rights crisis with the stroke of a
pen
The president needs to end all police/immigration collaborations. Just
like states can't have their own
military, they shouldn't meddle in the laws of migration.
Just like in the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s, the Federal Government
must intervene in this
human rights crisis
Arizona is the Frontline of A Failed Federal Policy
SB1070 is part of a dangerous national trend of empowering local police to
meddle in immigration enforcement
There are mini-Sheriff Arpaios and Arizonas creeping in all of our
communities
287(g), Secure Communities and other ICE-police programs promote racial
profiling and destroy public safety
Don't fall into the Arizona trap. Reject police-ICE collaborations

Enough of a disastrous and dangerous 'enforcement first' strategy to immigration

SB1070 and modernize the immigration laws to match the values of our
