With the brutal police attack on Occupy Wall Street activists, increasing harassment of Occupy Chicago and police threats against anti-G8 and NATO protesters, local anti-war and gay rights activist Andy Thayer demanded that Mayor Emanuel and President Obama respect the right to protest.  He was speaking as part of a press conference announcing an anti-war march on the Obama 2012 National Campaign Headquarters in Chicago taking place at 12 noon, Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011 beginning at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Congress Parkway.

Also speaking at the press conference was Mary Dean of Voices for Creative Non-Violence, who recently returned from a peace solidarity delegation to Afghanistan.  Dean spoke about the largely-unreported devastation that the U.S. invasion has inflicted on the Afghan people, including NATO's use of white phospherous and depleted uranium weapons.

More information about this Saturday's march on Obama 2012 Headquarters, as well as information about organizing against the May 2012 G8/NATO summits in Chicago, can be found at www.ChicagoMassAction.org
