Hey all,

I'm new to DW, looking to play a learning game this sat or sun (14th or 15th) I have a core set coming in the mail, but I'm not sure it will be here by the weekend. Anyhow, late morning early afternoon at games plus works best for me, please let me know if interested.

Thanks

So I got my Core set in the mail yesterday and I got ripped off. The seller sent me the rules and cards and replaced all the minis with dollar store toy soldiers.... Long story short, I have no army

That sucks! I hope you get that resolved. I've been buying games on eBay lately with some trepidation but so far so good. Im going try to get my first tactics game in Sunday with my nephews and hopefully I will join you guys soon at Valhalla.

Well, I sent the guy a message, his response was simply, "Was the box open?", as if a UPS driver would happen to know dust minis were inside and happen to have toy soldiers to replace the real contents. I doubt the guy will be very helpful, so if I don't have a resolution worked out with him by Monday I will file a complaint with ebay. If things get really bad, I can have my bank investigate the transaction and (likely) deam it as a fraudelent transaction. At that point I will at least get my money back...

Fingers crossed, because I really want to get my minis and play my first game.

With both ebay and paypal offering buyer protection, I can tell you
from first hand experience that simply filing a claim will get you
your money back quickly. With Ebay they will tell you to mail the
items back to the seller and give them the USPS tracking(delivery
confirmation) #. Once you do that they will issue you a refund in full
and bill the seller, they usually just take the money out of his
paypal acct.. If no money is there to take and he doesn't pay them
they will cancel his account and turn him over to a collection agency.
But the nice thing is you don't have to wait either way to get your
money back.

Ya, exactly. I wouldn't wait on it.

That's good to know. I picked up Descent and Space Hulk off eBay for no small sum and my ass was puckered until I saw they arrived in proper form.

Ebay protects the buyer so much now, that the far bigger fear is from
buyer fraud. Lots of sellers have stopped using them because it's now
so easy for a buyer to file a fraudulent complaint and get their money
back and sellers have no recourse, plus ebay still charges them all
the fees for having sold an item they were forced to issue a refund
on. I had 2 buyers pull things on me a couple years ago, claim the
items were not as described, get a refund from ebay before I could
even appeal, mail back only a few of the items they bought so they
could give ebay the "proof they had mailed something back to me", for
all ebay knew they could have mailed old newspapers. They got their
money back, plus kept half of what they bought, I lost half of the lot
I'd sold, plus all the money including what I'd paid for shipping,
plus still owed ebay & paypal all their fees. The only thing that
saved me in the end was that the weight on what they sent back was
only half of the weight of what I had sent and I had saved my shipping
receipts and had product weights and filed my own fraud complaint. But
the whole thing left a very sour taste in my mouth and I haven't sold
anything on ebay since.
