Hi all!

I think it might be a good idea to start with intro's and then get to
planning what day works for everyone to try and get out to a game
store and do some war. I assume that most people on this group
probably want some consistency of gaming so if anyone is interested in
trying to make a weekly meet up for gaming lets discuss it now.

My names Joe, clearly... :D I usually go to Games PLus and Valhalla
games. I dont got a lot dust stuff yet, just the models that come in
the starter kit. But, more is on the way.

I usually free up at the end of the week. Thursdays are good :D
How about you guys?

Hi Joe,
Currently I have a decent # of Dust mini's for each of the 2 sides
that are out. 58 germans plus 4 walkers (470ap) and 53 allies plus 3
walkers(432ap). So mini's shouldn't be a problem if someone that
doesn't have any or many wants to give the game a try. Right now I'm
trying to make enough markers for a decent sized game.
I've frequented Games Plus a lot over the years and know the owners
quite well but never played a game there. I have watched a few and I
know they have plenty of space for gaming, not familiar with Valhalla
but would be willing to check them out as well.
Best times to play for me would be anytime on the weekends, and with
some advance notice to juggle my schedule, I could find the time to
play most thursday's and friday's as well in the afternoon or evening.

Hey there guys!

Good talking to you at games plus over the weekend, Joe. I had never been out that way yet and enjoyed taking a look at their setup.

I also have a good stock of minis so it shouldn't be a problem to even have a few games going at once. I have 4 original core sets (2 that I play with for now) and 1 copy of each expansion, and 1 of everything else released. I'm also starting to gather materials to build my first table and terrain.

I am also trying to coordinate some play at Chicagoland Games Dice Dojo.

They are open late and on Wed they have a BYOB open gaming night till 12-1 ish. They have also expanded the size of their store by buying out the space next door. I'm able to play during the week at this store. Games Plus is cool but I can only play there during the weekend since I'm on the north side.

I've also had a few people contact me through boardgamegeek and the Dust facebook page. I'm going to send them here.

Eventually I'd also like to try and host some sessions at my place. I have a lot of room and It would also help me as I have not yet set up a true form of transporting all my stuff. I have it all in a glass display case. :)

I'm excited to get my first game of warfare in. I've been painting every night!

I'm excited for this group to grow as we start meeting up!

Hello guys
I'm Steve. Ive gone quite berserk on this game but haven't really gotten my friends into it, so I have very little table time save for trying to teach myself to play. That still hasn't stopped me from acquiring the complete set plus an extra walker or two. Ive also been wanting to start on painting them but am trying to teach myself how to do that as well. Lots of great inspiration in the forum. Nice work Zuggzugg.
I do have the Warfare rulebook but would prefer to start with Tactics. I still really want to learn and play anyhow.
I'm in Algonquin, so unless someone is nearby, I can only swing time on the weekend for gaming. Id also need some notice before I can lock a date down.
There is a Game Works near me. Not sure how Dust friendly they would be. Also The Gaming Goat in Elgin. They are mostly a Magic oriented crowd but would probably be OK with a Dust group meeting there. And if I ever get around to clearing out my basement. That will make a fine gaming lair.
Looking forward to it!

I don't think Game Works will allow that. Its an arcane not a tabletop place.

Joe I think you meant Arcade not Arcane. 2 very different things.
Haha.

My name is David McGuire and I am a wargaming addict. {Hi Dave}

Just got my first game in with Joe today. 180 pts. LIked it a lot.
Working on starting an Axis force. Have a Kommandotrupp and once its
painted I will add another unit.

A quick question, how big of a game do most people play? I was working
towards a 150 pt list and that seemed very tight. I was thinking now
200pts is a good place to start.

I am mainly free on sundays and mondays, although mondays are usually
reserved for Malifaux. I can arrange other times, it just needs a
little preplanning. Sat are generally out due to me working.

It was fun on a bun! I think that 400 points is most likely to be a good medium game.

Everyone seems to want to play small games, 150-200ap, maybe they're
in a hurry to go some where. But so far for me, the larger the game
the more fun it's been as you get to field a better variety of troops
and it's more involved from a strategy standpoint. I read that the guy
in charge at FFG said he believed the sweet spot for the game was
350-450ap. As far as gaming times go. Saturday or Sunday usually work
well for me. Games Plus would definitely be the better place to demo
the game or at least expose others to it as there are usually plenty
of other people around to watch.

Well for me, I just dont have enough models yet. But, I think this game was made for 2 platoons.

Hey Slartibartfast,

So I reviewed the rules for the Hans walker, the one we used in our game. Man did we under play it. The granatwerfer can fire like an artillery, which I'm sure you could have made use of and the Panzerwerfer hits tanks on a 1-4, not a 5 and 6!

Im in the same place as Joe,as of now I have one box. Its the
Kommandotruppen command squad for my future plans. With my track
record I am really trying not to overbuy and have a ton of unpainted
minis on the table. Not until I get a box painted will I buy another
box. I do have a couple of lists worked out and will be buying to that
level. I agree bigger games allow more cool stuff. but there is also
something to be said for small games and working with constraints.
Both can be fun. My current list prep is in the 400pt level, with 4
walkers. I am more than will to go large if someone would provide the
minis.

No worries. I was sure there were things we did wrong, We will get
better. Im still confused on the order you were using to strip
suppresion. Im remebering you using it during the move phase. I know
you can give and order during the command phase to do it. Maybe im
remembering it wrong.

We will get better remembering things the more we play. I cant wait
until the next battle.

Troops are not an issue, I have at least 700ap worth of germans and
600ap worth of allies and let people use mine all the time. If we can
get 4 people together I would suggest a nice size demonstration game
at Games Plus with 2 players per side.
