Subject: Reminder: CSAC Youth Advocacy Lab outreach!

Hi everyone,

I hope you're enjoying this beautiful summer weather! Sending a friendly nudge to please share the attached outreach materials (flyer and email language) with your network for the CSAC's Youth Advocacy Lab event on June 24-25. You're also welcome to repost/share Prevention First's LinkedIn post.

We have a really exciting agenda planned with our partners at Praxis and think this has the potential to be very impactful, both for the attending Chicago youth and for the future of our collective work.

Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you in advance for your assistance!

Claire

Subject: CSAC Youth Advocacy Lab materials for distribution

Hi all,

As we introduced in last week's workgroup meetings, we are excited to be hosting a free Youth Advocacy Lab event on June 24-25! The goal of this event is to involve youth voice in our priority work by facilitating storytelling, community harms/assets mapping, and youth advocacy message development.

I've attached the flyer for distribution to any of your youth-facing contacts. Below is also language to use in email outreach.

Shorter blurb:

Youth voices have the power to change Chicago, and the Chicago Strategic Action Council wants to hear them! The CSAC is hosting a free, two-day Youth Advocacy Lab on June 24-25 for Chicago students entering grades 8-12 this fall.

Participants will explore community issues, learn how systems and decisions get made, and develop advocacy skills alongside peers from across the city. Each participant will receive $75 per day in compensation and a $10 daily transportation stipend. Space is limited to 20 participants. Learn more and apply today!

Longer blurb:

Date: Wednesday, June 24 (9:30am-3:00pm) - Thursday, June 25 (9:30am-3:45pm)

Location: Prevention First - 640 N. LaSalle Dr, Chicago, IL 60654

Join the Chicago Strategic Action Council (CSAC) for a free, two-day Youth Advocacy Lab on June 24-25. Hosted by CSAC and the Praxis Institute for Positive Youth Development, participants will explore community issues, learn how systems and decisions get made, and develop advocacy skills alongside peers from across the city.

No experience needed. Just come ready to share, listen, and create! Apply here.

What's included:

· $75 per day compensation for your subject matter expertise + $10 daily transportation stipend (up to $170 total)

· Lunch provided both days

What to know before you apply:

· Open to rising 8th graders through rising 12th graders from anywhere in the City of Chicago

· If under 18 years old, a parent/guardian consent form will need to be electronically completed before participation

· Full attendance is required for both days

o         Day 1 (June 24): 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM

o         Day 2 (June 25): 9:30 AM – 3:45 PM

What to expect from the Youth Advocacy Lab:

Day 1: Lived Experience, Community Realities, and Systems

· Share your story and map your neighborhood's strengths and challenges

· Explore the systems and decisions that shape your community

· Dig into root causes behind what you see every day

Day 2: Solutions, Voice, and Advocacy

· Identify the issues that matter most to you

· Design real solutions with peers from across Chicago

· Build and practice your message for decision-makers

We appreciate any assistance you can provide in getting the word out! Feel free to reach out to James or me with any questions.

Kindly,

Claire
