Hi All,
I’m writing to share an opportunity to participate in a study on policing and racial justice among young Black sexual minority men. Dr. Ryan Wade, Assistant Professor and Director of the Queer Intersections, Inclusion and Innovation Lab at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and I are interviewing Black queer men to discuss family and community messaging about the police, experiences with the police and how police interactions have affected their mental health, and perspectives on social movements designed to address police violence against Black communities.
People are eligible to participate if they (1) identify as Black/African American, cisgender men, (2) are aged 18-35, inclusive, (3) currently live in Chicago and have lived in the city for a total of 5 years, and (4) have been stopped by the police in the past 3 years.
Participants will complete a brief demographic survey and a 60 to 90-minute individual interview (completed in person or via Zoom/telephone, based on participant preference). All participants will receive a $50 electronic gift card to Amazon as an incentive.
Would you be willing to circulate the attached flyer to any clients who may be eligible? You also can reach out to me or Dr. Wade at (wlr...@ullinois.edu) if you have any questions. Thank you!!
Warm regards,
Alida and Ryan
