I want to share a fantastic opportunity for high school students in Chicago: t
he Robert L. Johnson Leadership Academy (RJLA).RJLA is a three-year leadership and career-readiness program for students ages 14–18, primarily from Chicago's South and West Sides. The program takes rising sophomores and juniors through two years of structured programming, culminating in a professional internship with a Chicago-based company or organization.
The program is built around two core components:
• Summer Institute – A week-long residential experience at Roosevelt University's downtown Chicago campus, featuring college-style coursework, professional development, and hands-on workshops with companies like Google and Cresa. The week closes with a group capstone project.
• Second Saturdays – Monthly half-day sessions held September through April, covering tutoring, mentoring, ACT prep, financial aid guidance, and career development workshops.
