Hi all,
Happy fall! I'm writing because we're changing the way we handle volunteering a bit — we
used to do orientation followed by a general monthly meeting, but the
general meetings have become less useful since we have so much going on
all the time (not a bad problem to have!) :)
Here's how it will work going forward:
-
Drop in during any of our open hours, Fri, Sat, or Sun and find the
board that has the post-its for what need to get done (whoever is staffing
will be able to point you to it). There will be some recurring things, like
cataloging, and some one-offs, like help set up the new section for
books made by and for Chicago teens.
- Continue coming to cataloging any Sunday 1-5pm. Bring a laptop if you have one!
-
Come for orientation (if you haven't been) on the first Wednesday of
the month at 6:30pm, or drop in on me (Nell, hi!), I'm here any Friday 1-5pm.
- If you want to help
with staffing the library during open hours, come during orientation or any Friday or Sunday and we can get you trained.
We're
always open to your ideas for how we can make volunteering (and the
library!) better, please feel free to reach out with any suggestions or
questions.
Thanks so much!
