“Cabin of the Sublime – Or Not” is a two-week residency focused on refection and critical thinking.  A space has been built for artists to reflect, contemplate, and muse. An intimate cabin awaits you, a space that calls for your thoughts, not data from the web, nor impressions from critics, curators, or collectors – just a place designed for your voice to flourish.
“Cabin of the Sublime –
                                            Or Not”
LiveBox came into its own in 2006, initially envisioned as an outlet for video. Frustrated by the meager showing of video art in Chicago, as compared to NY, London, and Berlin, we saw an opening LiveBox could fill. As LiveBox grew, working with numerous artists locally and internationally, our interests evolved. New Media, alternative sound, performance, and the cross-pollination of multiple disciplines became our passion. We championed projects that were marginalized, due to their non-commercial status.

Last year LiveBox produced the thrilling series “Subtitles” that brought together alternative music, authors, and video artists, creating hybrid performances every 3rd Friday at Three Walls in Chicago.

This year we have a new focus. After years of curating exhibitions and happenings, we are now committing our energies to the dynamics of creating art, specifically focusing on the process of critical thinking and sustained resolve.
