Sunday the 15th is the first Adepticon planning meeting.
Are there any events you want to see added this year? Any changes to prior events?

I've been toying with an idea for a pick up game spec ops campaign that culminates in a specops tourney.

Play either random opponent games or in organized "big games " and accumulate experience for your spec ops character. Then use the character as modded in the tourney

I'm going to ask about getting decks of cards made for the ITS missions and classified missions for everyone who plays.

Any input ?

I heard that John doesn't always drink beer, but when he does, he prefers Dos Equis.

I also heard his impetuous orders seem calm and well thought out.

I usually prefer San Miguel. As far as Adepticon stuff I'm really looking forward to the ITS tourney and cards with mission information is always nice to have. In some of the ITs tourneys in jersey I used to run we would hand them out in small Manila envelopes mark tip secret as a neat little fluff thing, but we also used mission toilet for the mission format so the opponents didn't know what each other's mission was.

Another nice thing we had as a give away was an orders card that listed all of the actions one could take listed by type like short, movement, ARO and long. It also on the back listed what you could do with and order or impetuous order. It wasn't much but people seemed to like it.

I would be willing to pitch in and make a lot more infinity events at Adepticon. Personally I think it would be fun if we did not just a big ITS event but also a multi day campaign event. Either make up our own or do a variation on the Campaign Parsido out of the book for people to go though.

On top of having at least one full ITS event also having multiple online packs ready for small 4 – 8 player pick up tournaments could be fun as well so if 4 – 8 people are around you could get in a quick ITS event.

The other thing I think would be of help to people is to set up some sort of Infinity college with the demo games. Maybe have a slightly bigger demo area a small area for very quick small demo intro games with like 5 figs or less just to show people how the base system works. Then an area next to it for people to play that have not played that many games and would like to get in some games to lean more how the games works. Personally I think it takes about 10+ games to start to really get a good feel of how a lot of the different rules work and to be introduced to them this could be an area we help teach people like that more of the rules in a more relaxed pace that is not a ITS or anything like that.

Just some ideas I’ll be more than willing to help to pitch in any way I can.

What about doing paradiso missions...but doing the narrative portion. Have premade forces for each mission and play it more as a demo. Showcasing more of the models etc

I definitely want to do more than the big its event.

Tentatively

Thursday. Demos. There aren't that many people in events on Thursday. I think last year it was one of our best days for demos numbers wise

Friday   demos

300 point annihilation tourney starting in the evening.

Saturday  demos

300 point 2 list Its tourney. 5 rounds.
Thirty players

Sunday.  Limited demos

With either a big game like last year or a specops tourney.

I'll see how much space we can get for either open gaming or spontaneous tournaments.

As to a series of learning events, I'm not a huge fan of it. It would take a bunch of resources and I don't think it would be well attended.

More in a bit.

I think if you have a couple boards for demos and then a few boards for open play very close at hand then those that play the demos can "graduate up" to larger point games.  No need for special events.  Just a little more work for the demo crew to help the "graduates" with the new rules.

Key will be cool looking boards and figures for new players to use.

Sucks I am going to miss all or most of these events... with any luck I might be in late on Saturday... stupid work...

I'll help with Demos.

I agree that open tables would be a good idea. I know a few happened last year.

With regards to the specops thing, I has a dream involving getting through a JSA building from the ground up. Yes there were aragatos. So, I'm attempting to figure out how to build PLAYABLE multi level 3' square buildings (3or 4).

The idea is in a pick up game format the players take their spec op with other spec op players and go through the building to a roof top extraction site, getting experience along the way. Teams of three to four players against the gm who has set forces in set locations in the building.

The spec ops that is built up over the weekend is used in a tourney on Saturday. With a cap of say 24xp. Players can always just use a 12xp specops and would say win in a tie against a more experienced specop.

For the buildings I'm thinking of either the old necromunda tower or something with a hexagon footprint that is open on all sides. It would have to be supported in the middle and at a few corners.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Climbing up the tower to get extracted or knock out the big boss.... So like Raid: The Redemption but for Infinity!  That would be totally sweet and a blast to play.

That sounds awesome.

Split the levels into different tables for ease of play/access.

As long as the building is easy to move your models and see the models, it will be cool.

Check out the Raid, it's not in English but it's awesome. Frankly the dialog adds little to the movie.

I was thinking something like this

Necromunda+Terrain.JPG

Not as tall and wider floors.  If I built something more like an actual building it would have to be open on all sides and probably 10" between the floors to get our hands in there to move the minis around. The wall could be laid out in a way so that Los could be obvious.

Maybe 2 feet   Players have to be able to navigate it in a reasonable amount of turns.  4 floors at 6" minus width of the floor should work.

If I do the necromunda style i would make the floors wider than they are in the pics

The building idea you suggest would be easy as an interlocking modular layout, kind of like a modified Hong Kong Shanghai Bank.  Think a double capitol "i" shape in plan of brackets off a structual spine which also has the elevators and stairs.  The brackets then hold (2) 12" long x12"deep x2-3" tall room modules off each side.

Replay in the layout is had by moving the modules around or changing what is in them (terrain or objectivewise), whether they interconnect both hoizontally in vertically and how much.

Also did some minor concept sketching on the modular spaceship we talked about yesterday.  Thinking a series of 3 interconnected spinal hallway units.  Again if these were laid out on the same kind of module as the building with the same room modules can be set off to the sides we save time in the CAD creation process.  Cool factor on this kind of ship layout might also be had if the inner corridors where inside a ring and some of outside module were at an angle, not flat.  Blue tack on the base of figure would let them be set and played in these rooms if the angle was not to steep.

Further, did not find the CAD of Japanese house I wanted to laser cut, but think I could recreate it in arround 4 hours.

I have a boar that is 2' around and was going to start working on putting it up on a 4' x'4 board this week in the middle as a landing pad I am not sure how far up at least one foot up off the ground. I am still working on everything else that will go on the board but any sugestions are welcome.

First off that's a small pig. Lol

Less than a foot might make it difficult to play around and under. How do you intend to support it? One fat column or some columns on the perimeter?

One large center column with stairs going around and up might look cool.

I like the idea for the building.  Yes it took this long to picture it in my head.

The ship is more intriguing to me on a gm level. I have a bunch of aleph stuff and it would be cool to do a big game against aleph

A ship this size may be easier (cheaper) to do in Mdf with laser etched embellishments   Doors, panels, support girders and such.

I'll sketch something up, in crayon of course, and we can compare. I'll post it somehow.

I was going to put one piece in the center to support it and then have 4 more pieces coming off the center one I was going to look at the hardware store for some sort of wood shelf supports that could attach to the middle piece and and the top landing pad as well. That would also block some line of site at various levels as well. I may do more of a U bracket if they have them as well to make 4 more sections under the landing pad as well. That is one of the things I am still working on. I am going to go look for ideas at the store this week. If anyone has any other ideas I am open to them. One of the things I am debating is weather to put extensions off the landing pad to both deployment zones where people would come and go from the landing pad and make people think of deployment on multiple levels as well.

A little update.

We have 21 4x4 tables for Friday/Saturday at our disposal. Looks like we will be able to have everything in one place demos, pick up games the whole kit and caboodle.

I've found three Spanish beers at my local Binnys.

Now to get event descriptions and a list of volunteers done.

For pick up tourneys.

They will be rated when there are at least 4 players max 8

Format to be chosen by participants
150, 250, or 300 points with or with out spec ops. missions to be randomized by the judge with no repeats.
It's points will be given to the top 2 players. We'll do mini packs for these.

Spec op building games will be its scenarios. Xp will be awarded by 1/2 of objective points scored for the game.

There will be log books for both types of pick up events.
