Save the Date for the 11th Annual  Windy City Coop and Eco-Yard Tour 2021 The Windy City Coop Tour is back September 25 & 36 for its 11th year showcasing backyard poultry, eco-yards and urban livestock across Chicago! During this self-guided tour, hosts open their yards to visitors and share their experience keeping backyard livestock in an urban setting. The Windy City Coop Tour provides access to local examples of the broader nation-wide movement toward sustainable yards. Want to be a Host on the Tour and show off your backyard? Keep reading! Click Here to Save the Date to your Calendar! Applications are now open! Host the 2021 Windy City Coop Tour! This year’s tour is presented in partnership with Advocates for Urban Agriculture. The 2021 Host Application is live (online) — if you want to Host the Tour, please fill out the form BY FRIDAY AUGUST 27. Also send representative photos showing coop, run, and surrounding yard to windycit...@gmail.com.  Apply Here How to Host the Tour? The Windy City Coop Tour is a self-guided tour of backyard coops and eco-spaces. The Tour is also open to Hosts who may not have poultry but DO have other examples to share: intensive food production, water collection, solar and other renewable energy, etc. We encourage you to apply if you live anywhere in the Chicagoland area and want to Host — and if you know someone you think would be a good host location, forward this email to them. We use application responses and photos to approve Hosts and also to make Tour info materials and map — provide responses with that in mind. The form allows you to go back and edit your submission later. Contact us if you need an alternate method of applying.    Like 2020, you can host during any or all four time windows.            •  Saturday Sept 25, 10AM-1PM and 1-4PM            •  Sunday Sept 26, 10AM-1PM and 1-4PM We plan to review applications and confirm Hosts BY FRIDAY AUGUST 27. Apply Here Pandemic Response Since the Coop Tour is an outdoor event, and is considered a generally safe activity. HOWEVER due to concerns regarding the Dalta variant and that Cook County is considered a SUBSTANTIAL RISK AREA, ChiChickEns and AUA STRONGLY ENCOURAGE Hosts take reasonable precautions regarding the pandemic conditions as they stand currently. PLEASE NOTE: All tour hosts must agree to follow health and safety guidelines as advised by the CDC. Hosts will be asked to agree in the application. Help promote the tour! Everyone can help now with outreach to prospective hosts and to visitors. Please share with your lists and networks! Learn about gardening, composting, native plantings, and rainwater harvesting -- as part of sustainable urban lifestyles. Connect with like-minded people and grow your urban agriculture network!
