How do we thrive, rather than just survive, in a field of work that constantly pushes ahead in new directions? To try to answer that question this meeting opens the “floor” where everyone can talk about:

• How to stay relevant,
• Adapting to change in technology and organizations,
• Using social and professional networks,
• And when to make a total career change

The meeting will feature our moderator, Bruce Montes of Loyola University, along with a panel of past Chicago ACM speakers.

We’re looking to your participation in this event that effects everyone many times during their careers.

About the Moderator:

Bruce Montes is a lecturer at Loyola University Chicago. He teaches graduate and undergraduate technology and ethics courses for the Computer Science Department, The School of Continuing and Professional Studies, and the School of Communication.

Over the last 44+ years, Bruce has held technology positions in several areas from technician to director. As Asst. Vice President for Academic Technology Services, he worked with Academic leadership at the University to assess and adopt technology. As a senior IT leader Bruce led technology projects, initiatives, and support for infrastructure services, application development and academic technologies.

While focusing on information technologies and education during his entire working career, Bruce experienced several transitions in roles, responsibilities, and leadership. His most recent transition to teaching exclusively has permitted him to dedicate more time to helping others shape their own education and careers and contribute to professional organizations.

In addition to the ACM, Bruce is an active member in Educause, a nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education through the use of information technology, and in the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU).
