After 25 years in our bungalow, and putting up with an inadequate shower, we finally decided to search out a contractor to gut and redesign our bathroom.   My wife and I decided we did not need the tub, and wanted more of relaxing spa atmosphere, while have a period style bathroom as well.   After searching Houzz for ideas and writing down what we wanted,  we visited some show rooms and talked to contractors.  We eventually found a contractor that was easy to work with, as well as having input and suggestions.  We found (and love) our art-deco light fixtures along with the vintage tile design,

We put in a large shower in place of the tub, and added a bench seat.   We had them put in an electrically heated floor mat under the tile near the toilet and vanity.   Also, there are electric outlets inside the medicine cabinet, and inside the vanity.  This is used to reduce cord clutter for dryers and chargers!  We also had the iron water pipes removed in the bathroom and kitchen water feed, since it shared the same wall.   Copper piping is now installed down into the basement.  Eventually, we will remove all of the iron pipes in the house, and at least now our walls won't need to be torn up.

Our contractor is a longtime Chicago fixture, Brighton Home Products on 45th and S. Pulaski.   Our contractor from there was Steve Draths, nicest guy to work with.   The crew was very talented and respectful of our house and property.  Message me with any questions.

Nice job. I am on the hunt to solve some bathroom challenges, and your post actually helped me!

We have started restoring woodwork everywhere, except it seems every bungalow bathroom pic shows it painted white. So glad you have a picture of a bathroom with natural woodwork so I can get a feel for it. Thanks!
