[Hello, my name is [your name] and I am from [organization or city]. I am calling regarding the McClendon family's home at 10008 South Peoria St in Chicago, Illinois, 60643. Prior to passing away, Bertha McClendon was tricked into taking out a
Reverse Mortgage loan. Since she passed, her family members have
repeatedly offered to repurchase their family home, but One West Bank
and Fannie Mae has refused to consider their offer. Please stop the pending sheriff eviction via case # 2015 M1 707550 and negotiate with the McClendon family to keep them in their home. Thank You!]

What: Amanda Williams and Willie "J.R." Fleming of the Anti-Eviction Campaign
Artists and Cities Program
When: Wednesday, November 18th,
Last summer, visual artist Amanda Williams began painting abandoned homes in a long underdeveloped area of Englewood, using her customized palette of colors that reference black history and culture (Harold’s Chicken Red, Ultra Sheen Blue, and Currency Exchange Yellow). Meanwhile, Willie "J.R." Fleming and The Anti-Eviction Campaign were continuing the work they’d begun in 2009: taking over, fixing up, and “moving homeless people into the people-less homes” left in the wake of the housing crash. Williams and Fleming will discuss the spirit and aims of their different efforts to reclaim and repurpose properties in their communities.
This program is part of a three-month series presented in partnership with The Arts Club of Chicago
