Dear Chibolts members,

Does anyone know how I could get 3 words before and 3 words after a target word (and the frequency of this pattern). I tried “cooccur" but did not succeed.

Thanks,

Florence.

Dear Florence,
This command:  cooccur +n6 +ssee sample.cha   seems to work pretty well. Here is the output on the sample.cha file in the /samples folder:

1  hey nicky want to see what
1  nicky want to see what other
1  see what other neat toys there
1  to see what other neat toys
1  want to see a more toys
1  want to see what other neat
1  you want to see a more

The problem here is that often the target word is not actually going to have three words before or after it, because it appears early or late in the utterance.  If you try to find only the cases that have three words before and after, you will miss many instances of your target word.

Dear Brian,

Thank you for your answer. I apologize I didn’t reply earlier, I’ve been busy and couldn’t find the time to check the following point :

In the output on the sample.cha you sent, it seems that the program would count the same occurrence of “see” several times.

Ex :

1  hey nicky want to see what

1  nicky want to see what other

1  see what other neat toys there

1  to see what other neat toys

That is 4 counts for “see” but I think in the corpus there is only one occurrence in “hey nicky want to see what other neat toys there are ?”, right ? Do I get something wrong ?

Thanks again for all the things you do for the community and I wish you and your team a very happy new year,

Florence.
