Dear CHIANTI users,
Version 10.2.1 of the CHIANTI IDL routines has been released. If you are a Solarsoft user, then please update your distribution. If you use the standalone version, then the new release can be accessed at https://www.chiantidatabase.org/chianti_download.html.
Mac users are encouraged to also update their IDL distribution to version 9.0, as this has support for the Mac ARM chips and leads to a significant improvement in calculation speeds for the CHIANTI routines.
The new CHIANTI release has two new routines and 16 updated routines. A list of these routines is given at the bottom of this message.
A bug whereby the continuum was not calculated correctly if the number of energy bins (for /kev option) was greater than about 37000 was fixed. The format of the line list table has been updated to accurately identify satellite lines and give the formation temperature more accurately. The routine metastable_levels (which identifies an ion’s metastable levels) uses an improved method for identifying metastables based on plasma density. For other routines, please check the headers for details of what has been changed.
The new routine ch_masterlist() is an alternative to read_masterlist for reading the CHIANTI masterlist file. The other new routine, ch_latex_name, converts a CHIANTI format ion name (e.g., ‘fe_13’) to a latex string.
Best regards,
Peter Young, on behalf of the CHIANTI team
